SeroPOS app help: selling

The selling screens are where staff ring up orders: dine-in, takeaway, delivery or a quick retail sale, with search, barcode and camera scanning, variations, modifiers and weighed or open-price items. Orders can be held and resumed, printed as a bill before payment and handed between waiters.

Use the SeroPOS home screenHome is where every order starts. At the top, Search or Add Customer attaches a customer to the sale. Service Mode shows one coloured button for each type of service you offer, such as Dine-in, Take Away and Delivery. Quick Actions gives one-tap access to held sales, tables, the cash drawer, pay outs and Clear Screen. On a client till, a status bar at the bottom shows the connection to the server till.Start a dine-in order in SeroPOSTo seat a table and start their order, tap Dine-in on the Home screen. Table Selection opens with your floor plan (or a grid of tables if you haven't drawn one). Free tables are green, occupied ones red and tables waiting on payment amber. Tap a free table to open the POS for that table, add items, then HOLD to send the order to the kitchen.Start a takeaway order in SeroPOSTap Take Away on the Home screen to open the POS with a Walk-In Customer and start adding items. If the order is for a named customer, for example a phone order to be picked up, search for them in Search or Add Customer first, then tap Take Away. The sale is recorded as a takeaway in your Daily Sales Report.Start a delivery order in SeroPOSFor a phone-in delivery, search for the customer on the Home screen first, then tap Delivery. Delivery needs a customer with an address on file; if the address is missing, SeroPOS shows Please add customer address first. and opens Edit Customer so you can add it. The POS then opens for that customer and you ring the items as usual.Start a retail sale in SeroPOSRetail Mode turns SeroPOS into a shop till. Turn it on in Drawer › Settings › Retail Mode. The Home screen then shows a single New Sale button in place of the service buttons, and restaurant features such as tables, kitchen tickets and Kiosk Mode are hidden. Tap New Sale and scan or search items into the cart.Search and scan products in SeroPOSOn the POS screen, type in the search field to find products by name or SKU and tap a result to add it. A USB or Bluetooth barcode scanner that types like a keyboard works in the same field: when the scanned code exactly matches a SKU, SeroPOS adds the item straight to the cart. You can also scan with the device camera.Scan barcodes with the cameraIf you don't have a barcode scanner, use the phone or tablet camera. On a phone, open the Categories tab and tap Scan Barcode; on a tablet, tap the camera button next to the POS search. Point the camera at the barcode. SeroPOS looks the code up as a SKU on the server and adds the matching product to the cart, so camera scanning needs internet.Choose a variation when sellingWhen a product comes in sizes or options, tapping it opens Select Variation with the prompt Choose a size or option. Tap the variation you want, such as Small or Large, and it goes into the cart at that variation's price. On a tablet, Skip Selection adds the product without choosing. In QSR Mode each variation has its own button, such as Burger - L, so there is no extra step.Add modifiers to an itemWhen a product has modifier groups, SeroPOS opens Choose modifiers after you add it. Each option is listed with its price; tick the ones the customer wants and tap Add Modifiers, or tap Skip to add the item plain. The modifiers show as chips under the item in the cart, and on a tablet you can remove one chip at a time later.Sell an open-price itemFor items without a fixed price, such as a miscellaneous charge or a one-off item, SeroPOS uses a product whose name starts with Miscellaneous. Tap it and Custom Product Price opens; type the amount and tap Set Price. The item goes into the cart at that price and is taxed and reported like any other line.Sell weighed itemsSell produce, deli or bulk goods by weight with a connected scale. When you add a product that's sold by weight, SeroPOS reads the weight from the scale and adds it to the cart as a decimal quantity. If no scale is connected or the reading isn't steady, it asks you to put the item on the scale or enter the weight on the keypad.Edit a cart line in SeroPOSTap any line in the cart to open Edit Item. There you can change the price (Unit Price on a phone, New Price in QSR Mode), give a line discount as a percentage or fixed amount, mark the item as a return, and add a note or cooking instructions for the kitchen. Tap Save Changes to update the line before payment.Return an item in SeroPOSTo take an item back at the till, add it to the cart, tap the line to open Edit Item and turn on the Return toggle (Return Item on a phone, Is Return on a tablet). Save, and the line counts as a return, so it's refunded at payment instead of charged. To refund a whole earlier sale, use Recent Transaction instead.Hold an order in SeroPOSHold parks the current order so you can serve the next customer or send a table's food to the kitchen. Tap HOLD in the cart, or Hold on the floating dial on a tablet. SeroPOS saves the order as a held sale, prints the kitchen ticket and clears the cart. Bring it back from Held Sales when the customer is ready to add more or pay.Resume a held orderOpen Held Sales from Resume Order in Quick Actions or Resume on the floating dial. Search by invoice, customer or table, filter by Dine-in, Takeaway or Walk-in, and sort by Recent, Amount or Customer. On the order card, tap Edit to load it back into the cart, KOT to reprint the kitchen ticket, or Delete to remove it and free its table.Print a bill before paymentTo hand a table their bill before they pay, hold the order and tap BILL in the cart. SeroPOS prints the bill and marks the table Processing, so others can see it's waiting on payment. Staff without payment permission see BILL in place of PAY. On the payment screen, Print does the same for a held order, and with Enable Cart Print on it prints a provisional bill for an order that isn't held.Switch between POS menusIf you run different menus through the day, such as Breakfast and Lunch, SeroPOS shows them as pills in the app bar once you have two or more POS menus. Tap a pill to switch the product grid to that menu. The menus themselves are set up in the back office under POS menus.Choose the waiter for an orderWith Multiple User turned on in Settings, a tablet till shows SELECT WAITER before each new order. Each staff card shows how many open orders they have. Tap a name and that person becomes the order's waiter, shown on held orders and on Table Selection. The picker comes back after each Clear, ready for the next order.Clear the screen in SeroPOSClear Screen empties the cart and frees the table so you can start fresh, for example after ringing the wrong items. Tap Clear Screen in Quick Actions on Home, or Clear on the floating dial. If the cart had items, the clear is recorded as a line void so the owner can see what was removed. Clear is blocked while a split payment is in progress.
