Choose the waiter for an order

With Multiple User turned on in Settings, a tablet till shows SELECT WAITER before each new order. Each staff card shows how many open orders they have. Tap a name and that person becomes the order's waiter, shown on held orders and on Table Selection. The picker comes back after each Clear, ready for the next order.

Steps

  1. Give staff a service role. In Admin › Users & Roles › Roles, tick Service staff on the role your waiters use, and give each waiter that role.
  2. Turn on Multiple User. Open Drawer › Settings and switch on Multiple User.
  3. Pick a waiter. SELECT WAITER appears. Each card shows Total Orders for that person.
  4. Take the order. Tap your name. The POS opens and the order is assigned to you.
  5. Next order. After payment, hold or Clear, the picker returns for the next waiter.

What the waiter is used for

The waiter's name shows on held order cards and on tables in Table Selection. In the back office, the service staff report totals sales by waiter.

Multiple User needs at least one user whose role is marked Service staff. In Retail Mode the same screen reads SELECT CASHIER.

Frequently asked questions

Multiple User won't turn on.

SeroPOS needs at least one service staff user first. Open Admin › Users & Roles, edit or create a role, tick Service staff, assign it to your waiters, then try the switch again.

Does the waiter picker ask for a password?

No. It records who the order belongs to, not who is signed in. Permissions still follow the person signed in to the till, so use separate logins if you need to control what each waiter can do.
