Global Pay Cloud integration
Global Pay Cloud is the easiest way to pair a SeroPOS till with a Global Payments terminal. The link runs through the cloud, so a terminal can move around the room, the router can change, and the till still knows which device to charge.
Global pay cloud in SeroPOS
No cable, no IP address
Each till reaches its terminal through the cloud, so there is no network address to set or update when your router changes.
Verify and bind
Enter the terminal's device reference on the till and press Verify and bind terminal to tie the two together.
Partial approvals
If a card only covers part of the bill, the dialog shows the balance due and lets you charge another card or take cash.
Batch close built in
The terminal menu has History, Test Terminal, Batch Summary and Close Batch, so day-end happens from the till.
Terminal list and diagnostics
See every terminal in the business on one list, test one, and check the diagnostics if a payment does not come back.
Credentials stored encrypted
Your Global Payments business credentials are entered once and kept encrypted on the server, not on each till.
How Global Pay Cloud works
With a cable or local network connection, the till has to find the terminal by its address on your network. Global Pay Cloud removes that step. The till sends the payment request through Global Payments' cloud to the terminal it is bound to, and the result comes back the same way. As long as both devices are online, they find each other.
That makes it a good fit for restaurants with several tills and terminals, for counters where the Wi-Fi is managed by someone else, and for anyone who has spent an afternoon chasing a terminal whose IP address changed after a router restart. It also means a terminal can be swapped or moved to another table without anyone touching network settings on the till.
Setting up a till
First enter the business credentials Global Payments gave you, the App ID, App Key and Merchant ID. These are stored encrypted on the server and shared by every till in the business. Then, on each till, open Settings, turn on Global Pay Cloud and open its settings page, which shows This till and the till's name.
Find the terminal's device reference in the payments app on the terminal, under Merchant Settings and Select Lane. Type it into Terminal Device Reference on the till and press Verify and bind terminal. Save, then press Test terminal to make sure the two are talking before the first real customer.
- Enter App ID, App Key and Merchant ID once
- Turn on Global Pay Cloud on the till
- Read the device reference from the terminal
- Enter it and press Verify and bind terminal
- Save and press Test terminal
One terminal per till
Each till is bound to its own terminal, and the binding is stored on that till. The bar till charges the bar terminal and the front till charges the front terminal, even when they share a network and a login. The Terminals in this business list shows which terminal belongs to which till, so a manager can check it at a glance.
If you name your tills under Card Terminal for This Till in Admin, Tools, such as Front Till, Bar or Drive-Thru, those names make the list easy to read. When a terminal is swapped, bind the new device reference to the same till and carry on. Staff then always know which till a payment came from when they look back through card history.
Partial approvals and split payments
Some cards, especially prepaid cards, approve less than the amount asked for. Global Pay Cloud handles this. Instead of failing the sale, the payment dialog shows the amount approved and the balance due, then offers Charge on another card or Cash received for the rest. The sale records both payments, and the receipt shows each one.
You can also split a bill on purpose before you pay, by even shares, percentage, items or custom amounts, and send each card share to the terminal in turn. Cash and card legs can be mixed in the same split. Each card share goes to the bound terminal one after another, so the customer taps once per share.
Day-end on the cloud terminal
The Global Pay Cloud terminal menu has History for recent card transactions, Test Terminal, Batch Summary and Close Batch. Run the batch summary to check totals during the day, then close the batch at the end of trading to settle the day's card payments. Running the batch summary first lets a manager compare the terminal's totals with the till before the batch is closed.
Card payments taken through Global Pay Cloud show in the daily sales report under payments by method, and in the register report with each shift's card total. The payment safety net applies here too: an approved charge is written down before the sale is saved, and replayed if the sale did not get recorded.
Frequently asked questions
What is Global Pay Cloud?
Global Pay Cloud is a way of connecting SeroPOS to a Global Payments terminal through the cloud instead of by cable or local network address. Each till is bound to its terminal once, using the device reference shown on the terminal, and payment requests then travel through the cloud to that terminal.
Do I need a static IP address for my card terminal?
Not with Global Pay Cloud. The till finds its terminal through the cloud binding, so the terminal's address on your network does not matter. Both devices need an internet connection. If you use a direct network connection instead, the terminal's IP address, port and ECR ID are entered on the till.
Can I have several terminals in one restaurant?
Yes. Each till binds to its own terminal and stores that binding on the device. The Terminals in this business list shows every terminal and the till it belongs to. A busy restaurant can run a counter till, a bar till and handhelds, each charging on its own terminal.
What happens if a card is only partly approved?
The payment dialog shows the balance still due and offers to charge another card or take cash for the rest. The sale keeps both payments and the receipt lists each one. This often happens with prepaid cards that hold less than the bill, and it saves voiding and starting the sale again.
Where do I find the terminal device reference?
On the terminal, open the payments app, then Merchant Settings, then Select Lane. The device reference, also called the processing TID, is shown there. Type it into Terminal Device Reference on the SeroPOS Global Pay Cloud settings page and press Verify and bind terminal.
