Take cash and card on the same sale
A customer wants to put $20 in cash towards the sale and the rest on a card. SeroPOS records each part as its own payment and shows what is left until the sale is covered.
Mixed tender in SeroPOS
Any mix of tenders
Combine cash, debit, credit, cheque, bank transfer and custom tenders on one sale.
Remaining amount shown
After each leg the till shows what is still due, so nobody has to do the maths.
Custom tenders
Add up to seven of your own payment methods, such as E-Transfer, alongside the standard ones.
Card legs on the terminal
Each card leg goes to the connected terminal on its own, with its own approval.
Partial card approvals
If a card only covers part of the sale, Global Pay Cloud offers another card or cash for the balance.
Every leg in reports
The daily sales report shows payments by method, so a mixed sale counts in each tender.
One sale, several ways to pay
Mixed tender is common at any counter. A customer uses the cash in their pocket and puts the rest on a card. A business customer pays part by cheque and part by e-transfer. A guest with a nearly empty prepaid card uses what is on it and pays the balance another way. Each part needs to be recorded correctly, or the drawer and the card batch will not match the sales report.
SeroPOS treats each part as its own payment against the sale. The till shows the remaining amount after every leg, each card leg is approved separately on the terminal, and change is given only on cash. When the remaining amount reaches zero, the sale completes and the receipt lists every payment.
Taking a mixed payment
On a tablet or phone, open the payment screen and use Split to divide the sale into parts, then choose a different payment method for each part: cash for one, card for another. Each part has its own amount, card type, tip and change, and is paid in turn. Custom amounts let you match exactly what the customer wants to put on each.
In QSR Mode it is quicker still. Tap Split under the cart and a numpad shows the remaining amount. Type what the customer is paying in cash and tap Cash, then tap Credit or Debit for the rest. Each tender button records one leg, and the sale finishes when nothing remains.
Tenders you can mix
The payment methods offered come from Payment Methods in the Admin hub, where you turn Cash, Card, Cheque and Other on or off and add up to seven custom methods of your own. Custom tenders appear as buttons in QSR Mode and as choices on the payment screen, so a sale can be part cash, part card and part e-transfer.
Cheque and bank transfer sit alongside cash and card when you turn them on, which suits trade customers who settle larger orders by cheque. In the back office, payment methods can also be enabled per location, so each store only offers the tenders it actually accepts. Each method can be linked to a default payment account for bookkeeping.

When a card only covers part
Prepaid and low-balance cards sometimes approve for less than the amount asked. With Global Pay Cloud, the payment dialog handles this as a partial approval: it records the amount the card covered and shows the balance due, with options to charge another card or record cash received. Gravity Payments partial approvals are also handled by the till.
Mixed payments flow into the end-of-day numbers correctly. The daily sales report lists payments by method, so the cash part of a mixed sale counts towards the drawer and the card part towards the card batch. The register report in the back office shows cash, card and cheque totals for each shift.
Frequently asked questions
Can a customer pay part cash and part card in SeroPOS?
Yes. Use Split on the payment screen and choose cash for one part and card for the other, or in QSR Mode tap Split, enter the cash amount, tap Cash, then tap Credit or Debit for the rest. Each leg is recorded separately and the receipt lists both.
How many payment methods can I use on one sale?
As many as the sale needs. Each split part can use any enabled method, including cash, card, cheque, bank transfer and up to seven custom tenders. The till keeps showing the remaining amount until the sale is fully paid, and the receipt lists each payment.
How do I add e-transfer as a payment method?
Open the Admin hub on the till and go to Payment Methods, then add a custom method named E-Transfer. You can add up to seven custom methods. They appear on the payment screen and as buttons beside Cash, Debit and Credit in QSR Mode.
What if a card is approved for less than the total?
With Global Pay Cloud, the payment dialog records the partial approval and shows the balance due, then offers to charge another card or record cash received. The sale completes once the balance is covered. Gravity Payments partial approvals are handled by the till too.
Do mixed payments show correctly in end-of-day reports?
Yes. Each leg is stored with its own payment method, so the daily sales report counts the cash part under cash and the card part under card. The back office register report also breaks each shift down by cash, card and cheque.
