SeroPayroll for your team
Paying a restaurant or shop team in Canada means getting CPP, EI, tax, vacation pay and holiday pay right for your province every time. SeroPayroll, our sister payroll product, does that for every province and territory, through to remittances, T4s and ROEs.
SeroPayroll in SeroPOS
Every province and territory
Payroll for all 13 Canadian provinces and territories, with federal and provincial tax calculated to the cent.
CPP, EI, QPP and QPIP
CPP and CPP2, EI including Quebec's reduced rate, QPP, QPP2 and QPIP, plus taxable benefits.
Vacation, holidays, overtime
Vacation pay, statutory holiday pay and overtime follow each province's own rules, including banked time.
Remittances on schedule
PD7A remittances on the CRA calendar, quarterly, regular or accelerated, and Revenu Quebec TPZ-1015.
T4s and ROEs
T4 and T4 Summary XML, T4A, T5018 and RL-1 slips, and ROE files for ROE Web with the five-day deadline tracked.
Pay runs paid once
Calculate, approve, post and settle. A run is reversed rather than edited, so nobody is paid twice.
Payroll built for Canadian rules
Hospitality and retail payroll is full of provincial detail. Ontario's overtime starts after 44 hours a week, Alberta uses the greater of daily and weekly overtime, and British Columbia has daily two-tier overtime plus a weekly limit. SeroPayroll writes overtime and banked time the way each statute does, and keeps thirteen statutory holiday calendars with their own formulas.
Deductions are calculated to the cent: CPP and CPP2, EI and Quebec's reduced EI, federal and provincial income tax, and QPP, QPP2 and QPIP in Quebec. Rates are stored as data, so yearly changes are an update rather than a new version of the software. That matters for restaurants and shops, where minimum wages and holiday rules change often.
From timesheet to pay stub
Hours come from timesheets or the time clock. A pay run is calculated, approved, posted and settled, and it reaches the ledger once. If something is wrong, you reverse the run instead of editing it, which keeps a clean history. Bonus and off-cycle runs, holding one employee from a run, and weekly, bi-weekly, semi-monthly or monthly pay are all supported.
Each employee gets a pay stub with year-to-date totals and a masked SIN, by PDF or email, or a printed cheque. For direct deposit, SeroPayroll produces a CPA 005 bank file you upload to your bank, with formats for the major Canadian banks. It does not move the money itself.

Remittances, slips and records of employment
SeroPayroll follows the CRA remittance calendar for PD7A, whether you remit quarterly, regularly or on an accelerated threshold, and handles Revenu Quebec's TPZ-1015. Employer levies are covered too, including WCB and WSIB style premiums, Ontario EHT and Quebec's HSF. Each remittance is listed with its due date, and you can mark it as paid when it goes to the CRA.
At year-end it produces T4 and T4 Summary XML, T4A and T5018, with filing readiness checks before you submit. RL-1 is produced as slips. A PIER review checks your CPP and EI before the CRA does. Records of Employment are produced as files for ROE Web, and the five-day deadline is tracked.
SeroPayroll, SeroBooks and SeroPOS
Payroll was first built inside SeroBooks, our accounting product, and SeroBooks Pro still includes it in the same ledger, for Canada and the US. SeroPayroll is that payroll on its own, for businesses that want payroll without changing their accounting. The same login works across SeroBooks and SeroPayroll. Your SeroBooks users can sign in to SeroPayroll without a new account.
SeroPOS is a separate product again. Staff clock in and out at the till for shifts, and you run payroll in SeroPayroll. If you keep your books elsewhere, SeroPayroll can export a general ledger journal as CSV or in an IIF-style format for your accountant. Your accountant can then post payroll to whatever system you use.
Getting started
SeroPayroll runs as a desktop app for Windows 10 and 11, and as a web edition. The screens are available in English and Canadian French. Company files are encrypted, with a recovery key, and roles of Admin, Payroll and Read-only control who can see and run payroll. Payroll staff get the Payroll role, and an outside accountant can be given Read-only.
SeroPayroll is billed separately from SeroPOS. Employees who are only being paid do not need a login. You will find current plans, downloads and its own help centre at seropayroll.app.
Frequently asked questions
What is SeroPayroll?
SeroPayroll is our sister payroll product for Canadian employers. It covers all 13 provinces and territories, with CPP, EI, QPP and QPIP, income tax, vacation pay, statutory holidays and overtime by each statute, remittances, T4s and Records of Employment. It runs on Windows and the web, from seropayroll.app.
Does SeroPayroll work for restaurants?
Yes. Restaurants deal with part-time staff, overtime, banked time, statutory holidays and vacation pay, and SeroPayroll calculates each one by your province's rules. Timesheets and a time clock feed pay runs, and pay stubs go out by email or PDF. It suits shops and other hourly teams for the same reasons.
Does SeroPayroll pay employees by direct deposit?
SeroPayroll produces a CPA 005 direct deposit file that you upload to your bank, with formats for major Canadian banks. It does not move money itself, so the payment happens through your bank's business banking. You can also print cheques or prepare an e-transfer list.
Does SeroPayroll handle US payroll?
SeroPayroll is for Canadian payroll only. US federal and state payroll is part of SeroBooks Pro, our accounting product, where payroll sits in the same ledger as the rest of your books. If you have staff in both countries, SeroBooks Pro covers Canada and the US together.
How much does SeroPayroll cost?
SeroPayroll is a separate product from SeroPOS, with its own plans and its own bill, so adding it does not change your SeroPOS plan. Current plans and prices are listed on seropayroll.app, and we can help you choose one if you ask.
