Devices

The app runs on iPad, iPhone, Android tablets and phones, Windows PCs and Macs. Tablets and computers get the full sale screen, the quick-service grid, kiosk mode and the kitchen display; phones get a compact layout that suits line-busting and small counters. Mix them freely: one account covers every device.

Windows has a few extras: it can act as the server for other tills on your network, print through Windows printers and open the back office inside the app. SeroPOS also runs on the Global Payments T650P handheld terminal.

Printers, scanners, scales and drawers

Receipt and kitchen printers are standard ESC/POS thermal printers, such as Epson, Star and compatibles, in 58, 72 or 80 mm, over the network, Bluetooth or USB. Auto-detect finds them for you. Any USB or keyboard-style barcode scanner works in the product search, and phones and tablets can scan with the camera.

Cash drawers plug into the receipt printer and open when a sale prints. Weighing scales connect over USB, serial or the network on Windows, Mac and Android. A second screen can show the customer their order. Barcode labels print from the web back office.

Frequently asked questions

Do I have to buy hardware from SeroPOS?

No. SeroPOS does not sell its own branded hardware, and you do not need any to start. Use the phone, tablet or computer you already own, and buy printers, scanners, cash drawers and scales from any supplier. Card terminals come from your processor: Global Payments, Moneris or Gravity Payments.

What receipt printer should I buy for SeroPOS?

Any ESC/POS thermal receipt printer, such as an Epson or Star model, in 80 mm for most counters or 58 mm for small spaces. A network printer is the most reliable choice because every till can reach it; Bluetooth suits a phone or tablet on the move, and USB suits a single fixed till.

Does SeroPOS work with a cash drawer?

Yes. Connect the cash drawer to the receipt printer's drawer port. SeroPOS sends the open signal through the default printer, so the drawer opens when a sale prints, and staff can open it on demand from Open Drawer in the quick actions or the floating menu. Cash pay outs also print a slip.

Can I use a weighing scale with SeroPOS?

Yes. Turn on weighing for the business, then add the scale from the drawer: USB and serial scales on Windows, Mac and Android, or a network scale by IP address. Products marked as sold by weight read the scale when added to the cart. Without a scale, staff type the weight on a keypad.
