An iPad on a stand is a tidy till for a café counter, a boutique or a dining room. SeroPOS for iPad comes from the App Store and gives you the full tablet sale screen, tables, a kitchen display or a self-order kiosk on the same app.

What the iPad app does

SeroPOS on iPad uses the tablet layout: the cart takes a third of the screen beside the category and product panels, with a floating dial for Open drawer, Pay Out, Hold, Resume and Clear. Home shows a customer search, a card for each service type such as Dine-in, Take Away and Delivery, and quick actions for held sales, tables and the drawer.

Turn on Quick Service Mode for a counter that needs speed: a product grid you can arrange by dragging, with Cash, Debit and Credit buttons under the cart. Switch to Retail Mode for a shop, which hides tables and kitchen tickets and leaves a New Sale button. Pinch to zoom if you want larger buttons.

Restaurant service on an iPad

Dine-in orders start from Table Selection, a floor plan that shows each table as Available, Occupied or Processing with its seats and waiter. Tap a free table to start an order, or a busy one to load it. The Floor Plan Designer, where you draw tables, booths and the bar, is part of the Pro plan.

Held orders print their kitchen tickets to the station printers you map in KOT Mapping. An iPad can also become the kitchen display with KDS Mode, showing tickets with on-time, attention and late counters, or a self-order kiosk with Kiosk Mode, where customers order and pay by debit or credit card. Kiosk and KDS Mode need a paid plan and manager credentials to exit.

  • Table Selection with live table status
  • Kitchen tickets routed by station
  • KDS Mode for the kitchen
  • Kiosk Mode for self-ordering

Hardware that works with an iPad

For printing, use a network printer on the same Wi-Fi or a Bluetooth receipt printer. A cash drawer plugs into the receipt printer and opens through it, so the iPad never needs a cable to the drawer. Scan barcodes with the camera, or pair a keyboard-style Bluetooth scanner, which types into the search field like any other scanner.

For a customer display, start the Web Display Server in Multi Monitor and open its address in a browser on a second tablet facing the customer. Card payments can run on a cloud-connected terminal such as Global Pay Cloud or Moneris Go Cloud, which need no cable. The iPad app does not support weighing scales; use a Windows PC, Mac or Android tablet at a weighing counter.

Several iPads, offline days

Add more iPads as client tills with Server/Client Mode on the Pro plan. Each client connects to a Windows PC acting as the server till on your local network, and they share one database, so the floor plan, held orders and kitchen display stay in step across devices. A server can start an order on one iPad and finish it on another.

If the internet drops, a standalone iPad keeps selling. Sales are saved on the device and sent to the server every 20 seconds once the connection is back, and kitchen tickets keep printing over your local network. A small online or offline indicator in the app bar shows the current state, and a few screens such as the Daily Sales Report wait for the connection to return.

Frequently asked questions

Is SeroPOS available on the App Store?

Yes. SeroPOS for iPad and iPhone is on the App Store. Download it, create your business in the app and start the 14-day free trial with no card. When you subscribe, billing runs through your App Store account. Standard is $30 a month and Pro is $50.

Which printers work with SeroPOS on iPad?

Network printers on the same Wi-Fi and Bluetooth receipt printers, using ESC/POS or StarPRNT commands. Add them in Add/Edit Printer or use Auto-detect, then send a test page. A cash drawer plugged into the default printer opens with cash sales.

Can I use an iPad as a self-order kiosk?

Yes. Turn on Kiosk Mode in Settings with a paid plan and a manager login. The iPad goes into a full-screen self-order menu where customers build their order and pay by debit or credit card on an integrated terminal. Staff exit with Admin or Manager credentials.

Does the iPad app work with a weighing scale?

No. Scales are supported on Windows, Mac and Android, not on iPad or iPhone. On an iPad, staff can type the weight of an item on the keypad when it is added to the cart. For a deli or grocery counter that weighs often, use one of the other platforms.

Can several iPads share one set of tables and orders?

Yes, with Server/Client Mode on the Pro plan. A Windows PC acts as the server till and the iPads connect to it as clients on your local network. The floor plan, held orders and kitchen display are shared, so any iPad can pick up any table.
