A sale screen built for speed at the counter
The SeroPOS sale screen keeps everything a cashier needs on one view: pick a category, tap products, check the cart and take payment without hunting through menus.
Sale screen in SeroPOS
Categories beside products
On tablets and desktops the categories and product panels sit next to the cart, so staff never leave the screen to find an item.
Search by name or SKU
Type part of a product name or its SKU into the search field, or scan a barcode into it, and the item is found or added straight away.
Live cart panel
The cart takes about a third of the screen and shows items, modifiers and the running total. Tap any line to edit price, discount or notes.
Hold, KOT and Pay
HOLD saves the order and prints the kitchen ticket, KOT reprints it, and PAY opens the payment screen with the total already on the button.
Floating quick actions
A floating dial opens the cash drawer, records a pay out, holds or resumes an order and clears the screen from anywhere on the till.
Phone layout too
On phones the same flow runs across Home, Categories and Cart tabs, with a compact layout for small handhelds such as the Global Payments T650P.
One screen for the whole sale
On a tablet or desktop the sale screen splits into three panels: categories, products and the cart. The cart sits on the right by default and takes about a third of the width, so the product grid stays large enough for quick taps. Staff move from a category to an item to payment without opening a single extra window, which keeps the line moving at busy times.
Each product button can show its own colour, and long-pressing a product opens the Button Color picker with pastel and bold shades. Empty states are plain and clear: 'Select a category to view products' when nothing is chosen, 'No products found' when a search comes up empty. New staff learn the layout in a few minutes, and a short guided tour plays the first time the screen opens.
Finding products fast
The search field accepts a product name or SKU. It also listens to a USB or keyboard-wedge barcode scanner, so an exact SKU match drops the item into the cart with no extra tap. If you have no scanner, the camera scan button on the same screen reads a barcode with the device camera instead.
When a product has variations, the till asks which size or option to add. Open-price items ask for a price, and items with modifiers open the modifier sheet so the cashier can add toppings, sides or cooking choices. Products sold by weight take a reading from a connected scale or a typed weight, and decimal quantities are supported throughout.
The cart and what you can do with it
The cart shows each line with its quantity, modifiers and price, and modifier chips can be removed one at a time. Tapping a line opens Edit Item, where staff with permission can change the unit price, mark the line as a return, apply a percentage or fixed discount and add a note or special instruction for the kitchen.
Lines that have already gone to the kitchen are locked, and the till explains that the item is already in process. At the bottom of the cart, HOLD saves the order and prints the KOT, KOT reprints the ticket, and PAY opens the payment screen. Staff without payment permission see BILL instead, which prints the bill for someone else to settle.
- HOLD: save the order and print the kitchen ticket
- KOT: reprint the kitchen ticket
- PAY: open payment with the total shown
- BILL: print the bill when the user cannot take payment
Quick actions without leaving the sale
A floating action dial sits over the sale screen on tablets and desktops. It opens the cash drawer, starts a cash pay out, holds the current order, resumes a held order and clears the screen. On phones a draggable speed dial does the same job and also opens Tables in restaurant mode, so the most common side tasks are always one tap away.
Clear is blocked while a split payment is open, so a half-paid bill cannot be wiped by accident, and every cleared line is logged. The app bar keeps the business logo in the centre, an online or offline indicator, a clock-in icon, and icons for any card terminal or online order queue you have switched on.
Tablet, desktop or phone
SeroPOS runs on Windows, Mac, iPad, Android tablets, iPhone and Android phones. Screens 650dp wide or more use the tablet and desktop layout described above. Narrower screens switch to the phone layout, with three tabs for Home, Categories and Cart and a red badge showing how many items are in the cart.
A compact layout applies to small Android and iOS handhelds, including the Global Payments T650P. It uses a shorter toolbar, a slimmer bottom bar and compact cart, payment and modifier sheets, so the same sale flow fits a 360dp screen. You can also zoom the app with Ctrl or Cmd plus and minus, or press F11 for full screen on a desktop till.
Frequently asked questions
What devices does the SeroPOS sale screen run on?
It runs in the SeroPOS app on Windows PCs, Macs, iPads, Android tablets, iPhones and Android phones. Wider screens get the three-panel tablet layout, phones get a tabbed layout, and small handhelds such as the Global Payments T650P get a compact version of the phone screens.
Can I scan barcodes on the sale screen?
Yes. A USB or keyboard-wedge scanner types into the search field and an exact SKU match adds the item to the cart. Without a scanner you can use the camera scan button, which reads the barcode with the device camera and looks up the SKU online.
Can I change the price of an item in the cart?
Tap the cart line to open Edit Item. Staff whose role allows it can change the unit price, apply a percentage or fixed discount, mark the item as a return or add a note. If the role does not allow it, a manager can approve the change with their password.
What is the difference between Hold and Pay?
Hold saves the order without taking money and prints the kitchen ticket, so you can serve the next customer and finish this one later from Held Sales. Pay opens the payment screen to settle the order now with cash, card or another tender.
Is there a faster layout for quick-service counters?
Yes. QSR Mode, available on tablets and desktops, replaces the standard cart with a dense product grid, a compact cart and inline Cash, Debit and Credit buttons. Most counter sales then take a few taps with no separate payment screen.
