Windows POS
A touchscreen PC or all-in-one is the workhorse till for a busy counter, and the Windows app is the one that can host other tills. SeroPOS for Windows prints through Windows printers, reads USB and serial scales, and drives a second monitor for customers.
Windows PCs in SeroPOS
Server till for others
On the Pro plan, a Windows PC can act as the server till that other tills connect to.
Windows printers
Print to any printer installed in Windows, as well as network and USB receipt printers.
USB and serial scales
Read weights from HID USB scales and RS-232 serial scales on a COM port.
Second monitor display
Open the customer display on a second monitor as its own window or a full-screen browser.
Back office inside the app
Open the web back office in a window inside SeroPOS with a one-time sign-in link.
Full-screen modes
Kiosk and KDS Mode run borderless full screen, and F11 toggles full screen anytime.
Built for touchscreen counters
SeroPOS for Windows uses the tablet and desktop layout: categories, products and the cart side by side, with a floating dial for the drawer, pay-outs, hold, resume and clear. On a touchscreen PC, Quick Service Mode gives you a product grid you can lay out by dragging items into cells, with Cash, Debit and Credit buttons right under the cart.
Use Ctrl and plus or minus to zoom the whole app, Ctrl and 0 to reset, and F11 for full screen. A USB keyboard-style barcode scanner types into the POS search field and adds the item on an exact SKU match. Retail Mode, KDS Mode and Kiosk Mode are all available, and Kiosk and KDS go borderless full screen on desktop.
The server till for your other devices
Server/Client Mode, on the Pro plan, lets several tills share one local database. Only Windows can be the server. In Admin, under Tools, open Server / Client Mode and set Database Mode to Server. The PC shows its address and an access token, and opens a 24-hour setup window for new tills to join; Lock Down Now closes it early.
Client tills can be iPads, Android tablets, phones, Macs or other PCs. They find the server on the local network or connect by address and port 19091, and store their sales in the server's database. The floor plan, held orders and kitchen display are shared, and the server restarts itself when the PC boots.
- Set Database Mode to Server on the Windows PC
- Note the address and access token
- Connect each client within the setup window
- Lock Down Now when every till has joined
Printers, scales and screens on Windows
Windows adds a fourth way to print: Windows printer, which sends to any printer installed in Windows, including USB receipt printers that use a Windows driver. Network printers on port 9100 work as on any device, and Auto-detect scans for them. A cash drawer plugged into the default receipt printer opens with cash sales and from Open Drawer.
Weighing scales connect over USB as HID scales or over RS-232 on a COM port, or across the network by IP address. For customers, open Multi Monitor, refresh the monitor list and choose Open Display for a native window on the second screen, or In Browser for a full-screen browser. Upload slides to show between orders.
Installing and subscribing
Get the Windows app from the SeroPOS download page, sign up in the app and start the 14-day free trial with no card. When you subscribe, checkout opens inside the app and you pay by card. Standard is $30 a month and Pro, which includes Server/Client Mode, is $50.
The back office opens inside the app on Windows, using a 60-second one-time sign-in link from Admin, so a manager can edit products or run reports without finding a browser. If the installed version falls below the minimum SeroPOS supports, the app shows an Update Required message so you know to install the new build.
Frequently asked questions
Does SeroPOS run on Windows 11?
SeroPOS has a Windows desktop app for PCs, touchscreen all-in-ones and Windows tablets. Download it from the SeroPOS download page, create your business in the app and start the 14-day free trial with no card. On Windows you subscribe by card inside the app.
Can a Windows PC be the main server for other tills?
Yes. With the Pro plan, set Database Mode to Server in Server / Client Mode. Other tills on any platform connect to it as clients on your local network and share one database, including the floor plan, held orders and kitchen display. Only Windows can be the server.
Can I print to a regular Windows printer?
Yes. Choose Windows printer when you add a printer in SeroPOS and pick any printer installed in Windows. USB receipt printers on Windows are reached the same way, through their Windows driver. Network receipt printers on port 9100 work too.
Does SeroPOS for Windows support a customer display?
Yes. Open Multi Monitor in the side drawer, refresh monitors, and choose Open Display for a native window on the second screen or In Browser for a full-screen browser. Pick a layout, add your own slides and videos, and apply the changes live.
Which scales work with SeroPOS on Windows?
Windows reads HID USB scales and serial RS-232 scales on a COM port, using CAS or Aclas style output, the MT-SICS protocol or continuous output. Network scales can be added by IP address and port. Connect the scale in Add Weighing Scale and check the live reading.
