POS for pharmacies
The front shop of a pharmacy sells vitamins, cold remedies, baby formula and first aid, and much of it has a date on the box. SeroPOS records the lot and expiry of every batch you receive and can refuse to sell stock that is too close to its date.

Front-shop retail, not dispensing
SeroPOS is a retail POS for the over-the-counter side of a pharmacy: health and beauty, vitamins, baby care, seasonal stock and the till. It does not manage prescriptions, patient records or drug interaction checks, so it sits beside your dispensary system rather than replacing it. What it does well is batch-level stock control, which the front shop needs as much as the back.
Switch the till to Retail Mode for shop wording and a single New Sale button, with restaurant screens hidden. Scan products with a USB scanner or the camera, take cards on an integrated terminal and print or skip the receipt. Customer profiles and reward points work the same as in any shop.
Lot numbers and expiry on every delivery
In Business Settings, turn on product expiry and lot numbers. You can enter an expiry date directly, or enter a manufacturing date and let the product's expiry period work it out. From then on, each purchase line asks for the lot number with its manufacturing and expiry dates, and opening stock can carry lots too, so the batches already on your shelves are recorded from day one.
Labels can print the lot, expiry and packing date beside the barcode, which helps when you shelve two batches of the same product. The Lot Report lists each lot with stock on hand, units sold and units adjusted, so if a supplier recalls a lot you can see straight away whether you still hold any.

Stop selling before the date
The On product expiry setting has two choices: keep selling, or stop selling a set number of days before the expiry date. Choose stop selling and set the days, for example 30 for supplements or 7 for formula, and stock in lots past that point can no longer be sold. That turns a shelf-checking habit into a rule the system enforces at the till.
The dashboard's Stock Expiry Alert lists products expiring within the window you set under Dashboard settings. The Stock Expiry Report shows what is left in each lot with its dates, and expired units are written off with a stock adjustment so the loss is recorded with a reason and a recovered amount if the supplier gives credit.
Buying, returns to supplier and reporting
Purchases record cost, lot and expiry, and can update your selling prices when costs change. Short-dated stock that a supplier will take back goes out as a purchase return against the original purchase, with the lot and expiry on each line. The supplier's ledger shows what you bought, returned and paid, and supplier payments are recorded against each bill.
The Stock Report values inventory at cost and at selling price by category and location. The Stock Adjustment Report totals normal and abnormal adjustments, including expired stock written off, so you can see what expiry is costing the front shop each month. For several stores, each location keeps its own lots and stock.
Frequently asked questions
Does SeroPOS manage prescriptions?
No. SeroPOS is for the retail front shop: over-the-counter products, health and beauty, and the till. It has no prescription, patient or dispensing features, so pharmacies use it alongside their dispensary software. Its strength for pharmacies is lot and expiry control on retail stock.
Can the POS block sales of expired products?
Yes. In Business Settings, set On product expiry to stop selling and choose how many days before the expiry date sales should stop. Stock in lots past that point can't be sold. Choose keep selling instead if you only want reports and alerts.
How do I record lot numbers when stock arrives?
Turn on lot numbers under the Purchases settings. Each purchase line then takes a lot number with manufacturing and expiry dates. Opening stock can be entered with lots too, and the Lot Report shows stock on hand and units sold for every lot.
How do I handle a supplier recall?
Open the Lot Report to see whether you still hold the recalled lot and how many units have sold. Remove the remaining units with a stock adjustment, or return them to the supplier as a purchase return so the credit is recorded against their account.
Can I get alerts for products about to expire?
Yes. The back office dashboard has a Stock Expiry Alert table, and you choose how many days ahead it looks in the Dashboard settings. The Stock Expiry Report gives the full list by lot, and expired units are written off with a stock adjustment.
