Quick service mode for high-volume counters
QSR Mode turns a SeroPOS tablet or desktop into a counter till built for volume: a dense product grid, a compact cart and pay buttons right under the total.
Make every screen your own
Every screen below is the same SeroPOS app on a Windows till. Nothing needs a developer: each change is a switch or a long-press, made on the till during a quiet moment, and it reaches every till in the business.
- 01
Restaurant mode: picture buttons, modifiers on each cart line, HOLD to send to the kitchen and PAY. - 02
The same till in QSR Mode: a dense grid and pay buttons right under the cart, no separate pay screen. - 03
QSR Settings: the category panel, the product grid and which controls the cashier sees. - 04
More QSR Settings: printing, which cart buttons show, Quantity First, the cart side and the click sound. - 05
Long-press a product for Button Style: any colour, font colour and size, bold and double height, previewed live. - 06
Every product its own colour, here on a dark theme: staff find an item by colour before they read it. - 07
Long-press a category for its own colour, columns, rows per section, price order and drag mode. - 08
Enable drag: move each product into the exact cell you want, then Save Layout. - 09
The result, with Cart on Right switched off: the styled button, every product where it was dragged, and the cart on the left. - 10
Even the payment buttons: long-press Cash, Debit or Credit and pick Normal, Large or Extra Large for that till.
Quick service mode in SeroPOS
Inline pay buttons
Cash, Debit and Credit sit under the cart, with up to seven custom tenders such as E-Transfer. Card sales go straight to the terminal with no pay screen.
Variations as buttons
Each variation can expand into its own button, such as Burger - L, so a size is one tap instead of a pop-up.
Grid you control
Choose fixed, sectioned or drag-placed grids, set columns per category and style each button with colour, font size and double height.
Previous invoices
A back arrow in the cart pages through completed sales from the server for a quick review or reprint.
Delivery and split
A Delivery toggle adds a tip and delivery charge, and Split opens a numpad that records one tender at a time.
Settings synced
QSR Settings save to the server, so the category panel, grid columns, buttons and cart side follow the business across tills.
Built for the quick-service line
Quick-service counters live on speed. QSR Mode drops the separate payment screen and puts everything on one view: categories down one side, a product grid in the middle and a compact cart with pay buttons beside it. A cashier taps a combo, taps Cash or Credit and the sale is done. Card sales go straight to the connected terminal, so the customer is tapping their card while the receipt prints.
QSR Mode is a switch in Settings on screens 650dp wide or more, so it works on tablets, Windows PCs and Macs. It is part of the full POS on both Standard and Pro plans. The gear beside the switch opens QSR Settings, where you shape the grid and cart to suit your menu and the way your staff work.
The QSR cart and pay buttons
The cart shows Item, Qty and Amount columns. Swipe a line to delete it, tap Qty to bring up a slide-up keypad, or tap Amount to override the price if the role allows it. The total row carries a Print on or off toggle, Clear, Adjust and the total itself. Adjust opens a small panel for an order discount, a tip or loyalty points.
Under the total sit the money buttons: Cash, Debit, Credit and any custom tenders you have set up in Payment Methods, with More and Less to show or hide the extras. A utility row holds Hold, Delivery, Split and Print last invoice. Long-press Cash, Debit or Credit to open Payment Button Size: Normal for classic compact buttons, Large at one and a half times the height with bigger text, or Extra Large at double height. Long-press Hold, Delivery, Adjust, Split or Print for Bottom Button Size, and the quantity keypad's header for Quantity Keypad Size. Each size is separate and is remembered on that till, so a wall-mounted screen and a small tablet can each have their own.
- Classic layout: Cash, Debit, Credit, custom tenders, then Hold, Delivery, Split, Print
- Quantity First layout: Cash, Debit, Credit, QTY, then More, Delivery, Split, Print
A product grid shaped to your menu
QSR Settings let you set the maximum categories shown without scrolling, a one or two column category panel and the default number of product columns, from two to ten. You can show names in ALL CAPS, show or hide food-type dots and images, and add or remove the search bar, Split button, Delivery button and modifier pop-up.
For finer control, long-press a product to open Button Style. Pick a colour by swatch, hue or hex, set the font colour and size, make it bold or double height, and choose whether it asks for a quantity. Long-press a category to set its own column count, sort its products by price, and turn on drag so you can drop products into exact cells and save the layout.
Delivery, split and previous sales
Phone and walk-up delivery orders are handled from the same cart. Turn on the Delivery toggle and the cart shows a tip field and a delivery charge, taken from the packing charge on your Delivery type of service. The order switches between Delivery and Take Away as you toggle, so reports show the right service type.
Split opens an inline numpad showing what remains. Each tender button you press records one part of the payment, so a group can pay part cash and part card without leaving the screen, and Clear is blocked until the split is finished. The back arrow at the top of the cart pages through completed invoices, so you can check or reprint the last few sales in seconds.
When the network drops
Sales are saved on the till first and uploaded to the server in the background, so the counter keeps ringing if the internet goes down. Kitchen tickets still print. If a sale has not reached the server, the cart says so and offers Try again now, and a warning appears when newer sales are still waiting to upload, so staff do not ring or charge them twice.
The card payment safety net works in QSR Mode as well. An approved card charge is written down before the sale is saved and replayed if the sale was not recorded, and the till warns when the same card was just charged the same amount. Together these keep a fast counter from turning a network hiccup into a refund.
Frequently asked questions
Which devices can run QSR Mode?
QSR Mode needs a screen at least 650dp wide, so it runs on tablets such as iPads and Android tablets, and on Windows PCs and Macs. On phones SeroPOS uses its phone layout instead, which still has search, scanning, holds and payments but not the inline QSR grid.
Is QSR Mode included in the Standard plan?
Yes. The Standard plan at $30 a month includes the full POS with both the QSR and classic layouts, kitchen tickets, receipt printing, the cash drawer and kiosk mode. The 14-day free trial includes every feature, so you can test QSR Mode on your own menu, and it needs no card.
Can I add my own payment buttons in QSR Mode?
Yes. Any custom payment method you add in the Admin hub under Payment Methods, up to seven, appears beside Cash, Debit and Credit. Use More and Less to show or hide the extra tenders so the main buttons stay large.
Do card payments still need a pay screen in QSR Mode?
No. When a card terminal is connected, tapping Debit or Credit sends the amount straight to the terminal and the result comes back to the till. The customer pays on the terminal and the sale completes without a separate payment window.
Can I make some products bigger than others?
Yes. Long-press a product to open Button Style and turn on double height, change the font size or colour, or make it bold. You can also set columns per category and drag products into fixed cells so best sellers sit where staff expect them.
