POS for small business

Most small businesses already own a tablet, a laptop or a phone, and don't want to buy a terminal to go with a POS. SeroPOS runs on the device you have and covers sales, stock, customers and reports for one monthly price.

Use the hardware you already have

SeroPOS is an app for iPad, Android tablets, Android phones, iPhone, Windows PCs and Mac. Tablets and computers get the full layout with categories, products and the cart side by side; phones get a compact layout with tabs. You can start on the laptop in the back office and add a tablet at the counter later, and both sign in to the same account.

Accessories are standard: network, USB and Bluetooth receipt printers that speak ESC/POS, a cash drawer that opens from the printer, a USB barcode scanner that types into the search field, and integrated card terminals from Global Payments, Moneris and Gravity Payments. Auto-detect finds printers on your Wi-Fi, USB and Bluetooth in one scan.

One app for restaurants and shops

The same app adapts to the business. Restaurants get service modes for dine-in, takeaway and delivery, tables, modifiers and kitchen tickets. Quick-service counters get a grid with one-tap pay buttons. Shops switch on Retail Mode, which uses shop wording, shows a single New Sale button and hides the restaurant screens.

Underneath, everything works the same way: products with variations and units, discounts, split and partial payments, held sales, returns, customer accounts and reward points. Staff each get a login and a role, and actions such as refunds can need a manager's password, so you don't have to stand at the till to keep control.

The back office does the paperwork

Every SeroPOS account includes a web back office. Add and import products, record supplier purchases, track expenses, manage customers and suppliers, and set up taxes, receipts and printers. The dashboard shows sales, purchases, invoices due, expenses and stock alerts for any date range and location, and the same login works from any browser.

Reports cover daily sales, profit and loss, tax, stock, trending products, payments and registers, each with filters and export or print. The daily sales report can be emailed to you each night after closing. When you need an accountant, Invite Accountant gives them a one-time code instead of your password.

What it costs

Standard is $30 a month and includes the full POS with both layouts, unlimited products, kitchen tickets, tables and takeout, receipt printing and the cash drawer, standard reports and kiosk mode, for one location and three users. Pro is $50 a month for five users and adds the floor plan designer, server and client tills, CRM, recipes and production, advanced reports, QuickBooks and WooCommerce.

Both plans start with a 14-day free trial that needs no card. Three more users are $10 a month, and an extra location costs the same as its plan. Card processing is separate: send us a recent processing statement and we'll quote a rate. There are no setup fees for the software itself.

Frequently asked questions

What is the best POS system for a small business?

The best one fits what you sell, runs on hardware you can afford and doesn't charge for features you won't use. SeroPOS runs on the iPad, Android tablet, PC or Mac you own, covers restaurants and shops, and starts at $30 a month with a 14-day free trial.

How much does a small business POS cost?

SeroPOS Standard is $30 a month for one location and three users, and Pro is $50 a month for five users with more back-office tools. Hardware is whatever you already own or buy separately, and card processing is quoted by your provider.

Do I need special hardware?

No. SeroPOS runs on iPad, Android tablets and phones, iPhone, Windows PCs and Mac. Receipt printers, cash drawers, barcode scanners and card terminals are optional and connect over the network, USB or Bluetooth depending on the device. Auto-detect finds printers on your network for you.

Can I try SeroPOS before paying?

Yes. Every plan starts with a 14-day free trial with full access, and no card is needed to sign up. You can load demo data to practise on, then remove it and import your real products before you start selling.

Is SeroPOS for restaurants or retail?

Both. Restaurants use service modes, tables, modifiers and kitchen tickets, or the quick-service grid. Shops turn on Retail Mode for shop wording and a single New Sale button, with restaurant screens hidden. The back office and reports are the same for both.
