Card terminals for SeroPOS

SeroPOS sends the amount to the card terminal, so nobody keys a total twice and the sale records itself when the card is approved. You can pick from four integrated options and give every till its own terminal.

Card terminals in SeroPOS

Four integrated options

Global Pay Cloud, Global Payments Terminal Plus, Moneris Go Cloud and Gravity Payments are built into the app.

One terminal per till

Card Terminal for This Till saves the terminal on each device, so every till charges on its own reader.

Amount sent for you

The till sends the total to the terminal, and the result comes back to the sale automatically.

Refunds on the terminal

Card voids and refunds from Recent Transactions run on the terminal against the original payment.

Tips from the terminal

A tip the customer enters on the terminal comes back to the sale and prints on the receipt.

A safety net for charges

Approved charges are recorded before the sale is saved, with a guard against charging the same card twice.

The processors SeroPOS works with

Global Pay Cloud connects the till to a Global Payments terminal through the cloud, with no cable or IP address. You enter the business credentials once, then bind each till to a terminal using its device reference and test it. Global Payments Terminal Plus goes further: SeroPOS runs on the Android terminal itself, such as the T650P handheld, so the terminal is the till.

Moneris Go Cloud is set up with your merchant ID, store ID, API token and terminal ID, with a test mode that turns the screen red so nobody confuses practice with real sales. Gravity Payments terminals are set up with your OID, token and device name. Each processor has its own switch and settings screen in SeroPOS Settings.

A terminal for each till

Busy counters often have two or three tills, each with its own reader. In Admin, under Tools, Card Terminal for This Till lets you name the till, such as Front Till, Bar or Drive-Thru, and save that device's terminal details: the cloud device reference, or the Moneris or Gravity terminal ID. Tap Save for this till, or Use shared to fall back to the business default.

Because the setting is stored on the device, client tills in a multi-till setup each charge on their own terminal. Each enabled processor also adds a card icon to the app bar, which opens its terminal menu: card transaction history, printing the last card receipt, batch summaries and closing the batch at day end.

When a card payment goes wrong

Card payments fail in messy ways: a dropped connection, a customer who walks off mid-tap, a terminal that freezes. SeroPOS writes every approved charge to a holding queue before it saves the sale, and replays it if the sale was not recorded, so an approved card is not lost. If the same card is charged the same amount moments apart, the app warns you before going ahead.

The payment dialog gives clear choices when something is unclear, such as Check on Terminal, which reads the terminal's batch to see whether the card was really charged. On Global Pay Cloud a partial approval shows the balance due so you can take the rest on another card or in cash. A declined card shows a red screen and prints a decline slip.

Tips, surcharges and day-end

Tips can be typed at payment in SeroPOS, or entered by the customer on the terminal when its tip prompt is on; terminal tips come back and print as Tip or Gratuity. If you add a card surcharge, it applies to credit cards only, from 0 to 2 percent, and is set per location.

At the end of the day, close the batch from the terminal menu or from the processor's settings, and print the day-end report. The Daily Sales Report in SeroPOS lists card surcharges, tips and payments by method, so you can match it against the processor's deposit. Moneris settings also show how the terminal itself is configured, synced from Moneris.

Getting a rate

Processing rates depend on your card mix, volume and business type, so there is no single price that fits every shop. If you would like a quote through SeroPOS, send us a recent processing statement and we'll quote a rate with Moneris or Global Payments. The Getting Started guide in the app points you to payments@seropos.app for this.

You can also keep a processor you already use, if it is one of the four above. Set it up in Settings, run a test payment, and you are ready. If your current processor is not on the list, you can still record card sales against a Card or custom payment method while you decide.

Frequently asked questions

Which card terminals work with SeroPOS?

SeroPOS has four integrated options: Global Pay Cloud, Global Payments Terminal Plus (SeroPOS running on the terminal), Moneris Go Cloud and Gravity Payments. The till sends the amount to the terminal and records the result. Terminals from other processors are not integrated, but you can record those sales against a Card payment method.

Can each till have its own card terminal?

Yes. Open Admin, then Tools, then Card Terminal for This Till. Name the till and save its terminal details, such as the cloud device reference or terminal ID. The setting is stored on that device, so every till in a multi-till setup charges on its own terminal.

What happens if the connection drops during a card payment?

An approved charge is written to a holding queue before the sale is saved and replayed if the sale did not record, so the payment is not lost. The dialog also offers Check on Terminal, which reads the terminal's batch to confirm whether the card was charged, before anyone tries again.

How do I get a better processing rate?

Send us a recent processing statement at payments@seropos.app and we'll quote a rate with Moneris or Global Payments. Rates depend on your card mix, volume and business type, so a quote based on your own statement is the only fair comparison.

Can I add a surcharge for credit cards?

Yes. Turn on Card Surcharge in Settings and set a percentage between 0 and 2. It applies to credit cards only and is set per location. Check the card network and provincial or state rules that apply to you before you turn it on.
