POS for quick-service restaurants

At a counter-service restaurant the till has one job at noon: take the order, take the money and get the ticket to the line before the next guest steps up. SeroPOS QSR Mode is laid out for exactly that, with pay buttons under the cart and the kitchen watching a live screen.

What you get

Quick service restaurants in SeroPOS

Drag-and-drop QSR grid

Place products into fixed cells, set columns per category and save the layout so every till shows the same buttons.

Inline pay buttons

Cash, Debit, Credit and up to seven custom tenders sit under the cart. A card sale goes straight to the terminal with no extra screen.

Kitchen display mode

Turn any tablet or PC into a kitchen display with On time, Attention and Late counters, an All Day panel and a Recall list.

Self-order kiosk

Kiosk Mode runs full screen so guests browse, pick modifiers and pay by debit or credit without a cashier.

Previous invoices in reach

Page back through completed sales from the cart to check or reprint a receipt without leaving the order screen.

Sales that survive outages

If the internet drops, sales save on the till, kitchen tickets keep printing and everything uploads when the connection returns.

An order screen built for speed

QSR Mode turns a tablet or Windows PC into a grid of large buttons. Variations expand into their own buttons, so Fries - S, Fries - M and Fries - L each take one tap. Choose a fixed or sectioned grid, or switch on Enable drag and place your top sellers exactly where cashiers reach for them, then Save Layout. Long-press any product to change its colour, font size or make it double height.

Turn on Quantity First if guests often order several of the same item: the cashier keys the number, then taps the product. Ask quantity can be set per button for things like nuggets or cookies sold in counts. The category panel, column count, ALL CAPS names, product images and the search bar are all switches in QSR Settings, and they sync to the server for every till.

Pay without leaving the cart

The pay buttons live right under the order. Cash opens the change screen, Debit and Credit go straight to an integrated Global Payments, Moneris or Gravity terminal, and custom tenders such as e-transfer sit next to them. Split opens a numpad that shows the remaining balance, and each tender records one leg until the order is paid. Hold and Print last invoice are on the same row.

Long-press a money button to make the pay buttons Normal, Large or Extra Large to suit your screen and your staff. If a card terminal stalls, SeroPOS keeps a record of the approved charge and warns the cashier before anyone charges the same card twice. Those checks matter most when the line is ten deep.

The kitchen sees the order the moment it is paid

Kitchen tickets print to the printer you map for each category, product or food type, so drinks go to the front and burgers go to the grill. Or put a screen on the line and switch it to KDS Mode. Each ticket shows its age, turns to Attention at eight minutes and Late at fifteen, and staff tick items as they finish before tapping SERVE to bump.

The All Day panel adds up what is still to cook across every open ticket, which helps the grill cook drop ten patties at once instead of reading tickets one by one. Recall brings back anything bumped in the last two hours if a guest comes back to the counter. New tickets chime twice and stay highlighted for ten seconds.

Let guests order at a kiosk

Kiosk Mode is included in the Standard plan. A tablet or touchscreen PC shows a welcome screen, then your menu by category. Guests choose variations and modifiers marked Required or Free, review their order and pay with debit or credit on the connected terminal. The order goes to the kitchen like any other, and the receipt prints at the kiosk.

If a guest walks away mid-order, an idle prompt asks whether they are still there and then starts over. Staff leave Kiosk Mode only with an Admin or Manager login, so a curious guest cannot reach the back office. Many counters run one or two kiosks beside the main till to take pressure off the cashier at peak.

Close the day in a few minutes

The DSR on the till covers today, yesterday, this week or a custom range. It shows bills, gross and net sales, discounts, returns, payouts, tips and card surcharge, then breaks sales down by payment method, order type, item, category and modifier. Print it as a Z report on the receipt printer before you count the drawer and close the register.

In the back office the same figures arrive by email each night, and the Trending Products report shows which items move most by location and date. Use the Product Sell Report with a time range to see what sold between 11:30 and 1:30, which is the window that decides staffing and prep for most quick-service kitchens.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between QSR Mode and the classic layout?

The classic layout is built around tables and service types, with a cart panel and a separate payment screen. QSR Mode is a dense button grid with Cash, Debit, Credit and Split under the cart, so counter sales finish in fewer taps. You can switch modes in Settings, and QSR Mode needs a tablet-width screen or larger.

Do I need separate kitchen display hardware?

No. Any tablet or PC running SeroPOS can be switched to KDS Mode from Settings. It shows tickets by station with timers, an All Day count and Recall. Many kitchens also keep a printer for backup tickets. Leaving KDS Mode requires an Admin or Manager login.

Can customers pay cash at the self-order kiosk?

No. Kiosk Mode takes debit and credit only, on the card terminal connected to that kiosk. Guests who want to pay cash order at the counter. Kiosk Mode needs a tablet or desktop screen and is not available on phones.

Which card terminals work with a quick-service setup?

SeroPOS connects to Global Payments terminals over your network or through Global Pay Cloud, to Moneris Go, and to Gravity Payments terminals. Each till can be bound to its own terminal. If you want to compare rates, send us a statement and we'll quote a rate.

What happens to sales if the internet goes down at lunch?

Sales keep saving on the till with a unique token, kitchen tickets still print and the screen shows an offline indicator. Sales upload automatically when the connection returns. A few screens, such as Recent Transactions and the DSR, need internet, so run them once you are back online.
