What batch close does

Through the day, approved card payments collect in a batch on the terminal. Closing the batch sends them to the processor for settlement, which is how the money reaches your bank account. Most businesses close once a day, after the last sale, and keep the day-end report with their cash-up.

With an integrated Global Payments terminal, you can do this from SeroPOS instead of on the terminal's own screens. The till sends the close command, the terminal settles the batch, and the day-end report prints. That keeps end-of-day in one place, alongside the register close and the daily sales report.

Closing the batch

There are two ways in. In Settings, the Global Payments row has a Close Batch button beside its switch and gear. Or tap the Global Payments card icon on the app bar to open the terminal menu and choose Close Batch & Print Day-End Report. Either way, the batch settles and the report prints on your receipt printer.

If you only want to check the totals, choose Print Batch Summary instead. It prints the batch so far without closing it, which is useful mid-shift or before handing over to the next manager. For Global Pay Cloud, the cloud terminal's own menu has History, Test Terminal, Batch Summary and Close Batch.

Matching cards to sales

The day-end card report should match the card payments in SeroPOS. Print the daily sales report from DSR in the side drawer and compare the card totals under payments by method. If they match, the day is reconciled. If they do not, Card Transaction History on the terminal menu lists each transaction for comparison.

The payment safety net makes mismatches rare. Approved charges are saved before the sale and replayed if needed, and Check on Terminal reads the batch when a cashier is unsure whether a card went through. Voids and refunds made from Recent Transactions run on the terminal, so they appear in the batch too.

Other processors

Batch close from the till is built for Global Payments terminals, including Terminal Plus, where SeroPOS runs on the terminal itself. Moneris terminals have their own menu on the app bar with card history, last card receipt, terminal sync and reboot; settle Moneris batches as your Moneris setup requires, on the terminal or through your Moneris account.

Gravity Payments terminals are driven from the till for sales and returns; follow Gravity's settlement process for your account. Whatever the processor, SeroPOS records every card payment against its sale, so the daily sales report remains your single view of card takings for the day. Compare it with your processor's deposit to confirm the money arrived.

Frequently asked questions

How do I close the card batch in SeroPOS?

For a Global Payments terminal, tap Close Batch on the Global Payments row in Settings, or open the terminal menu from the card icon on the app bar and choose Close Batch & Print Day-End Report. The batch settles and the report prints on the receipt printer.

Can I see the batch total without closing it?

Yes. Open the terminal menu from the app bar and choose Print Batch Summary. It prints the card totals so far without settling the batch, so you can check takings mid-day or at a shift change and close the batch later in the day.

Does batch close work with Moneris?

Batch close from the till is built for Global Payments, including Global Pay Cloud and Terminal Plus. The Moneris menu on the app bar offers card history, last card receipt, terminal sync and reboot. Settle Moneris batches as your Moneris account is set up.

How often should I close the card batch?

Most businesses close once a day, after the last card sale. Closing daily keeps deposits regular and makes it easy to match card totals with the daily sales report. Ask your processor whether your account also settles automatically at a set time.

Can I reprint a card receipt for a customer?

Yes. Open the terminal menu from the card icon on the app bar and choose Print Last Card Receipt. For older sales, open Recent Transactions from the side drawer, find the sale and use Print Invoice to reprint the receipt.
