Turn on Multiple User (waiter mode)

Multiple User lets several servers share one till. With it on, the till opens on SELECT WAITER, a list of your service staff with each person's open order count. A server taps their name and the order they take is recorded under them, so tables, held orders and reports show who served it. To switch it on, at least one user needs a role marked Service staff.

Steps

  1. Create a service staff role. Open Admin › Users & Roles › Manage roles & permissions and add or edit a role such as Server. Turn on Service staff (Can be assigned to orders as waiter).
  2. Give servers that role. In Admin › Users & Roles, add each server as a user and pick the service staff role.
  3. Turn on Multiple User. Open Drawer › Settings and switch on Multiple User. If no service staff exist yet, the app says Please add a Service Staff in Back Office to enable this.
  4. Pick the waiter. The till now shows SELECT WAITER. Each name shows Total Orders, the server's open orders. The server taps their own name.
  5. Take the order. Start the order as usual. The waiter's name is saved with it and shows on the table in Table Selection and on the card in Hold Orders.
  6. Hand over to the next server. After the order is held or paid and the screen is cleared, SELECT WAITER returns for the next person.

Where the waiter's name shows up

The name chosen on SELECT WAITER follows the order: on the table in Table Selection, on the held order card, and in the back office service staff report. That makes it easier to split tables between sections and to see how many open orders each server has.

  • Multiple User is a per-till switch.
  • In Retail Mode the same screen reads SELECT CASHIER and shows Total Sales.
  • The till stays signed in as one user; servers pick their name rather than signing in.

Frequently asked questions

Why can't I switch on Multiple User?

No user has a role marked Service staff. Open Admin › Users & Roles › Manage roles & permissions, turn on Service staff for the role your servers use, make sure at least one active user has it, then try the switch again.

Does each server need their own login?

Each server needs their own user so their name appears on SELECT WAITER, but they don't sign in and out of the till. They tap their name at the start of each order.
