Steps
- Open Table Selection. On the Home screen tap the Dine-in card. You can also tap View Tables in Quick Actions, or the Tables tile on a phone. Dine-in orders start with a Walk-In customer, so you go straight to the tables.
- Read the legend. The Table Status panel shows the three colours: Available, Occupied and Processing. Each table shows its seats (for example 4 seats) and the waiter's name, or No waiter.
- Start a new order. Tap a green table. It turns Occupied and the POS screen opens with that table attached to the cart.
- Open a running order. Tap a red or amber table to load its held order into the cart. Add items and tap HOLD to send the new items to the kitchen, or take payment.
- Refresh the statuses. Tap Refresh Status to reload every table, for example after another till has seated or paid a table.
- Free a stuck table. Long-press a table that shows Occupied or Processing and confirm Change Table Status to set it back to Available.
- Change the layout or go back. Tap Design Floor Plan to edit the room (an Admin or Manager login is needed), or Back to Home to leave.
How a table changes colour
A table turns Occupied when you start an order on it and hold it. It turns Processing when a server prints the bill with BILL before payment. Paying the order, deleting its held order or using Clear Screen frees the table again.
On a till with Multiple User turned on, the waiter picked for the order is shown on the table, so a manager can see at a glance who has which section.
Floor plan or grid
If you have saved a layout in Floor Plan Designer, Table Selection shows the drawn room with your bar, entrance and other elements. Without one, the screen reads Table Selection - Grid View and shows the message No floor plan configured. Select a table from the grid below. Both work the same way.
- Table Selection is hidden in Retail Mode.
- Tables store a seat count only. There is no seat-level ordering or guest count.
- On a Server/Client setup the floor plan and held orders are shared, so every till sees the same tables.
Frequently asked questions
Why is a table still red after the guests left?
The order on it may have been paid on another till without the status refreshing, or left on hold. Tap Refresh Status first. If it is still red, long-press the table and choose Continue in Change Table Status to set it to Available.
What does the amber Processing colour mean?
Processing means the bill has been printed with the BILL button and the table is waiting to pay. Tap the table to load the order and take payment, and the table becomes available again.
Do I need a floor plan to use tables?
No. Without a saved floor plan the screen shows your tables as a grid. Drawing a plan in Floor Plan Designer is a Pro plan feature that makes the screen look like your room.
