Hold an order in SeroPOS

Hold parks the current order so you can serve the next customer or send a table's food to the kitchen. Tap HOLD in the cart, or Hold on the floating dial on a tablet. SeroPOS saves the order as a held sale, prints the kitchen ticket and clears the cart. Bring it back from Held Sales when the customer is ready to add more or pay.

Held orders across the business: search, filter by service type, then edit, reprint the KOT or delete.

Steps

  1. Build the order. Add the items to the cart, with the customer or table attached.
  2. Tap HOLD. Tap HOLD in the cart. On a tablet you can also open the floating dial and tap Hold.
  3. Kitchen ticket prints. The order is saved and the kitchen ticket prints at the mapped kitchen printers.
  4. Serve the next customer. The cart is clear for the next order.
  5. Hold again after changes. When you reopen a held order and add items, HOLD again. The new ticket shows only the new or increased items.

Where held orders are kept

Held orders are saved on the server when the till is online, and on the device when it isn't, so a hold made offline isn't lost. In a server and client setup, every till sees the same held orders and tables.

In QSR Mode, Hold is in the bottom button row. With Quantity First on, Hold moves to the floating dial.

Frequently asked questions

Does holding an order print a kitchen ticket?

Yes, if Print KOT is on in Drawer › Settings and your kitchen printers are mapped in KOT Mapping. Each hold prints what's new since the last one, so the kitchen doesn't get duplicate items.

Can a held order be paid on another till?

Yes. Held orders are shared through the server, so any till on the same location can open the order from Held Sales and take payment. On a client till, the server till must be running.
