Steps
- Add the kitchen printer. Open Drawer › Add/Edit Printer and add each kitchen or bar printer. A network printer is the most reliable choice when you print to several stations.
- Map tickets to printers. Open Drawer › KOT Mapping and create at least one KOT that links a printer to your categories, products or food types.
- Turn on Print KOT. Open Drawer › Settings and switch on Print KOT. The switch applies to this till, so turn it on at every till that takes food orders.
- Send an order. Ring up the order and tap HOLD. The order is saved and a ticket prints at each mapped station.
- Add to the order. Resume the order from Hold Orders (Edit), add items and tap HOLD again. The new ticket shows only what was added.
- Reprint a ticket. Tap KOT in the cart, or KOT on the order's card in Hold Orders, to print it again.
How tickets behave
A KOT prints when an order is held, not when it is paid, so the kitchen can start while guests are still eating or ordering. Once the kitchen has started an item, its cart line is locked and the app warns that the item is in process. Ask the kitchen before removing it.
- Tickets print offline, so a dropped connection doesn't stop the kitchen.
- Print KOT is a per-till switch.
- Print Invoice (the customer receipt) is a separate switch in the same screen.
- Kitchen tickets are hidden in Retail Mode.
One kitchen or several stations
With a single kitchen, create one KOT, map all your categories to it and point it at your kitchen printer. With a bar, grill and pizza station, create one KOT per station so each printer receives only its own items. To show tickets on a screen in the kitchen, see KDS Mode.
Frequently asked questions
Why didn't a kitchen ticket print?
Check three things: Print KOT is on in Settings on this till, the product is covered by a KOT in KOT Mapping, and that KOT's printer is switched on and reachable. Then use the KOT button in the cart to try again.
Does the kitchen get the whole order again when I add items?
No. When you resume a held order and hold it again, the ticket carries only the new items and any increased quantities.
Can kitchen tickets go to a screen instead of paper?
Yes. Turn a tablet in the kitchen into a Kitchen Display with KDS Mode, and turn on Print KDS at the ordering tills. Tickets then appear on the screen, filtered by station.
