Steps
- Set up the printers first. Add a printer for each station in Drawer › Add/Edit Printer. KOT Mapping can only use printers that already exist.
- Open KOT Mapping. Open the drawer and tap KOT Mapping. The KOT LIST shows each saved mapping and its printer.
- Add a KOT. Tap ADD KOT and type a KOT Name such as Bar or Grill. Names must be unique.
- Pick the printer. Use Select Printer to choose the printer for this station.
- Choose what prints there. Tap Select Category, Select Product or Select Food Type and tick the items for this station. Food types are Veg, Non Veg, Eggitarian and General. Each list has Select all and Clear.
- Save. Tap SAVE. You need a name, a printer and at least one category, product or food type, or the app tells you what is missing.
- Repeat for each station. Create one KOT per station. To change or remove one later, use Edit or Delete on its row in the KOT LIST.
Planning your stations
Map whole categories for broad routing, such as all Drinks to the Bar, and add single products only for exceptions, such as a dessert the bar plates. If you run separate veg and non-veg kitchens, Food Type sends each to its own printer. With only one kitchen, one KOT mapped to every category is all you need.
- Each KOT prints to one printer.
- A printer that is still mapped to a KOT can't be deleted until you remove it from the mapping.
- KOT names also appear as station filters on the Kitchen Display.
- KOT Mapping is hidden in Retail Mode.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need KOT Mapping if I have only one kitchen printer?
Yes, create a single KOT, map all your categories to it and point it at that printer. Without a mapping the till has nowhere to send kitchen tickets, and KDS can't be switched on.
Which printers work best for several stations?
Network (Wi-Fi or LAN) printers. They let one till print to several stations at once more reliably than Bluetooth or USB.
Can staff change the mapping?
Only if their role includes KOT Mapping in the Device & Setup group of POS Access. Otherwise the drawer row shows a lock and asks for approval.
