Steps
- Open Printer Management. Tap the menu icon to open the drawer and choose Add/Edit Printer. The Printer Management screen lists every printer saved for this location.
- Tap Add printer. Tap Add printer. A popup asks How does this printer connect? Choose Network Printer (marked Recommended), Bluetooth Printer, USB Printer or, on a Windows till, Windows Printer, then tap Continue.
- Name the printer. Type a Printer Name staff will recognise, such as Front Counter or Kitchen Grill. Names must be unique within the location.
- Enter the connection details. For a network printer, enter the IP Address and Port (usually 9100). For Bluetooth or USB, pick the printer from the device list. For a Windows printer, pick it from the printers installed in Windows.
- Set format and paper size. Leave Print Format on ESC-POS for most thermal printers and pick Non ESC-POS only if your printer does not support it. Set Paper Size to 58 mm or 80 mm to match the roll (72 mm is offered for USB printers).
- Test, then save. Tap Test Printer and check the slip prints cleanly at the right width. Then tap Save Printer.
- Choose the default. Back on the list, tap the star on your main receipt printer. The card shows a DEFAULT badge, and receipts, the DSR and batch reports print there.
Printer settings explained
Each printer card shows its name, connection type and address. Edit opens the same details form, and on an existing printer you can also set the capability profile: ESC-POS, StarPRNT or TSC. Delete asks for confirmation and is blocked while the printer is still used by a kitchen ticket mapping, so remove it from KOT Mapping first.
Printer lists are saved per location on the server, so a printer you add on one till is available to the other tills at that location after they sync.
What prints where
The default printer handles customer receipts, hold bills, the provisional bill from the cart, cash pay-out slips, the Daily Sales Report and card batch reports. It is also the printer that opens the cash drawer. Kitchen tickets (KOTs) go to whichever printers you map to each kitchen station.
- SeroPOS prints receipts and tickets, not product labels.
- Kitchen tickets still print when the internet is down, as long as the printer is reachable on your local network or cable.
Frequently asked questions
Which paper size should I choose?
Check the width of the roll in the printer. Most counter receipt printers take 80 mm paper and most small mobile printers take 58 mm. If the test slip cuts off text on the right, the paper size is set wider than the roll, so edit the printer and pick the smaller width.
Why can't I delete a printer?
A printer that is still assigned to a kitchen ticket in KOT Mapping cannot be deleted, so service is never left without a kitchen printer. Open Drawer › KOT Mapping, move that KOT to another printer or delete it, then come back to Add/Edit Printer and delete the old printer.
Can I have more than one printer on a till?
Yes. Add as many printers as you need, for example a receipt printer at the counter and network printers in the kitchen and at the bar. Only one is the DEFAULT for receipts; the others receive kitchen tickets through KOT Mapping.
