Find printers with Auto-detect

Auto-detect saves you looking up a printer's address. Open Drawer › Add/Edit Printer and tap Auto-detect: SeroPOS scans Bluetooth, USB and your Wi-Fi network at the same time and lists every receipt printer it finds. Tap Add on the one you want, check the name and paper width, and tap Save Printer.

How to Find Printers Automatically in SeroPOS (Auto-Detect)0:44 · narrated, with captions

Steps

  1. Switch the printer on. Turn the printer on and connect it the way you plan to use it: on the same Wi-Fi or network as the till, paired over Bluetooth, or plugged in by USB.
  2. Open Add/Edit Printer. Open the drawer and tap Add/Edit Printer.
  3. Tap Auto-detect. Tap Auto-detect. The Auto-Detect Printers screen shows Scanning for printers… while it searches all three connection types together.
  4. Pick a printer. Found printers are listed with their connection type (Wi-Fi, Bluetooth or USB). Tap Add on the printer you want. A printer you already saved shows Added.
  5. Check the details. Confirm the Printer name and Paper width, and keep the format on ESC-POS unless your printer needs something else.
  6. Save it. Tap Save Printer. The printer joins the list in Printer Management, where you can star it as the default or run a test from Edit.

How the scan works

The network part of the scan looks for printers on port 9100 across your local network range, which is the port almost every network receipt printer uses. Bluetooth printers must already be paired with the device in its own Bluetooth settings before they show up, and USB printers must be plugged in and switched on.

If nothing is found, tap Scan again after checking the printer is awake. A network printer that prints a self-test page with an IP address can always be added by hand from Add printer › Network Printer.

Frequently asked questions

Auto-detect found nothing. What should I check?

Make sure the printer is on and online, that the till and printer are on the same network (guest Wi-Fi is often separated), and that a Bluetooth printer is paired in the device settings first. Then tap Scan again. If it still does not appear, add it manually with its IP address.

Does Auto-detect change printers I already set up?

No. It only lists what it finds. Printers that are already saved are marked Added and Auto-detect will not add them twice or change their settings.
