Steps
- Connect the printer. Plug the printer into the till with its USB cable and switch it on. On an Android tablet you may need a USB OTG adapter.
- Open Add/Edit Printer. Open the drawer, tap Add/Edit Printer, then tap Add printer.
- Choose USB Printer. Pick USB Printer (Printer connected directly by USB cable) and tap Continue.
- Pick the printer. Choose your printer from Available Devices. If Android asks whether SeroPOS may use the USB device, allow it.
- Name it and set the paper. Enter a Printer Name and choose the Paper Size. USB printers can use 58 mm, 72 mm or 80 mm.
- Test and save. Tap Test Printer, check the slip, then tap Save Printer and star it as default if it is your receipt printer.
How USB printing differs by device
On Android, Mac and Linux, SeroPOS sends print data straight to the printer over USB, so no driver is needed. On a Windows till, install the printer's Windows driver and add it with the Windows Printer option instead, which prints through Windows. iPhone and iPad cannot drive a USB receipt printer directly; use a network or Bluetooth printer there.
- The 72 mm paper option is only offered for USB printers.
- If the printer disappears after unplugging, plug it back into the same port and send a test from Edit.
Frequently asked questions
Why does my USB printer not show on Windows?
On Windows, SeroPOS prints to USB printers through Windows itself. Install the printer's driver so it appears in Windows Printers & scanners, then add it in SeroPOS with Add printer › Windows Printer and pick it from the list.
Do I need a driver on Android?
No. SeroPOS sends ESC-POS data straight to the printer over the cable. You only need to allow SeroPOS to use the USB device when Android asks, and use an OTG adapter if the tablet has no full-size USB port.
