Steps
- Connect the drawer. Plug the cash drawer's cable into the drawer port on your receipt printer.
- Set the default printer. In Drawer › Add/Edit Printer, make sure that printer has the DEFAULT star.
- Tap Open Drawer. On Home, tap Open Drawer in Quick Actions. On a tablet, tap Open on the floating dial.
- Check it opens. The printer sends the signal and the drawer pops open.
- On a phone. Use Open drawer in Quick actions on Home or on the speed dial.
If the drawer won't open
Most problems are the cable or the default printer. Check the drawer is plugged into the printer, not the computer, and that the right printer is marked DEFAULT. Print a test from Add/Edit Printer to confirm the printer itself works.
Frequently asked questions
Can the drawer connect directly to a tablet?
SeroPOS opens the drawer through a receipt printer, using the drawer port most thermal receipt printers have. Connect the drawer to the printer, and the printer to the tablet over network, USB or Bluetooth.
Is a no-sale drawer open recorded?
Opening the drawer doesn't create a sale. To account for cash that leaves the drawer, use Cash Pay Out, which records the amount and a note and shows in the Daily Sales Report.
