SeroPOS app help: payments

SeroPOS takes cash with change, cards on an integrated terminal, custom tenders and charges to a customer account, and lets you split a bill evenly, by percentage, by item or with mixed tenders. Discounts, tips, reward points, shipping and packaging charges, card surcharge, cash pay-outs and the cash drawer are all handled at payment.

Take a payment in SeroPOSWhen the order is ready, tap PAY in the cart. On a tablet the payment screen shows PAYMENT DETAILS with the Final Amount, chips for Discount, Split, Points and Shipping, and PAYMENT MODE with the methods you've turned on. Pick the method (and for a card, the CARD TYPE, Debit or Credit), check the PAYMENT AMOUNT, then tap Pay or Pay & Print. Card payments are sent to your connected terminal.Take cash and give changeFor a cash sale, tap PAY, choose Cash and type the amount the customer handed you in PAYMENT AMOUNT. SeroPOS works out the Change Return in PAYMENT DETAILS so you know what to give back before you finish. Tap Pay & Print; the receipt prints and the cash drawer connected to the receipt printer opens.Split a bill in SeroPOSTo split a bill, tap PAY and then the Split chip. Under CREATE SPLIT choose a Split Type: Even, Percent, Item Wise or Custom, and how many splits. Each split is listed under SPLIT ROWS; pay each one separately under SPLIT PAYMENTS with its own method, card type and tip. The order stays open until every split is paid, then tap Continue.Pay with cash and card togetherWhen a customer wants to pay part in cash and part on card, use Split with the Custom split type. Make two splits, type the cash amount on the first, and the rest goes on the second. Pay the first with Cash and the second with Card. Any custom method you've set up, such as E-Transfer, can be one of the parts.Take a partial paymentTo take a deposit or part payment, tap PAY and type less than the total in PAYMENT AMOUNT. SeroPOS warns Payment Amount is Less than Invoice Total. Tap Ok Continue to record the payment. The sale is saved as partly paid, and the balance stays due on the sale and on the customer's account until it's collected.Add a tip to a saleType a tip in Tip Amount on the payment screen and it's added to the total. You can also add a tip in Adjust Order in QSR Mode, on each split of a split bill, or in the Tip field of the QSR Delivery toggle. If your card terminal asks the customer for a tip, the tip they enter comes back to SeroPOS and prints on the receipt as Tip / Gratuity.Apply a discount to a saleTo discount the whole sale, tap PAY and then the Discount chip. In Apply Discount choose Percentage or Fixed Amount, enter the amount or tap a Quick Select value (5, 10, 15 or 20), and check the Discount Preview showing Original Amount, Discount Amount and Final Amount. Tap Apply Discount and the total drops before you take payment.Redeem reward points at checkoutWhen a customer with reward points is attached to the sale, tap PAY and then the Points chip. Redeem Points shows their Available Points. Enter Points to Redeem and tap Redeem Points; the value comes off the total as Redeemed Points before payment. Reward Points must be turned on in Admin, and the limits you set there apply.Add shipping and packaging chargesTo charge for shipping or packaging on a sale, tap PAY and then the Shipping chip. In Shipping & Packaging, enter a Shipping Cost, a Packaging Cost or both, and tap Add Charges. The charges are added to the total and show on the receipt. For a charge on every order of one service type, set a packing charge in Types of Service instead.Charge a sale to a customer accountTo put a sale on a customer's tab, attach the customer, tap PAY and choose Credit under PAYMENT MODE. Credit here means on account, not a credit card. SeroPOS checks the customer's credit limit; if the sale would go over it, the payment is refused with Not Enough Credit Available. The amount then stays due on the customer's account until they pay.Set up a card surchargeSeroPOS can add a surcharge of up to 2% to credit-card payments. Open Drawer › Settings and switch on Card Surcharge, then tap its gear. On the Card Surcharge screen, enter the Surcharge Percentage (%) and tap SAVE. The surcharge applies only when the card type is Credit; cash, debit and other methods aren't surcharged. It's set per location.Record a cash pay outWhen you take cash out of the drawer, for example to pay a supplier or buy milk, record it as a pay out. Tap Cash Pay Out in Quick Actions (Pay Out on the floating dial). In Cash Out, enter the Cash Out Amount and a note, then confirm. A slip prints, and the amount is taken off expected cash and listed under Payouts in the Daily Sales Report.Open the cash drawerTo open the cash drawer without a sale, for example to give change for a note, tap Open Drawer in Quick Actions on Home, or Open on the floating dial. SeroPOS sends the open signal through your default receipt printer, so the drawer must be cabled to that printer. Cash sales open it automatically when the receipt prints.
