Add a tip to a sale

Type a tip in Tip Amount on the payment screen and it's added to the total. You can also add a tip in Adjust Order in QSR Mode, on each split of a split bill, or in the Tip field of the QSR Delivery toggle. If your card terminal asks the customer for a tip, the tip they enter comes back to SeroPOS and prints on the receipt as Tip / Gratuity.

One payment screen for discounts, points, tips, change and printing.

Steps

  1. Tap PAY. Tap PAY in the cart.
  2. Enter the tip. Type the tip in Tip Amount.
  3. Check the total. Final Amount now includes the tip.
  4. Take payment. Choose the method and tap Pay or Pay & Print.
  5. Or let the terminal ask. For a card, the customer can add a tip on the terminal if it's set to prompt. It's recorded on the sale automatically.

Where tips show up

Tips are reported in the Tips card of the Daily Sales Report, and by order type in the Orders by Type section. A discount given in Adjust Order doesn't apply to the tip.

SeroPOS doesn't add an automatic gratuity and the app has no percentage tip buttons. Type an amount, or use the tip prompt on your card terminal. To charge a fixed service charge on every order of a type, set a packing or service charge in Types of Service.

Frequently asked questions

Can the card terminal ask for the tip?

Yes, if the terminal is set up to prompt for tips. The customer picks or types a tip on the terminal, and SeroPOS records it on the sale and prints Tip / Gratuity on the receipt. On Moneris, the terminal's tip settings show in Moneris Pay Settings under Terminal Behaviour.

Can I add a tip after the sale is paid?

Add the tip while taking payment. To change a completed sale, open it from Drawer › Recent Transaction with Edit Sale, which may need manager permission.
