Charge a sale to a customer account

To put a sale on a customer's tab, attach the customer, tap PAY and choose Credit under PAYMENT MODE. Credit here means on account, not a credit card. SeroPOS checks the customer's credit limit; if the sale would go over it, the payment is refused with Not Enough Credit Available. The amount then stays due on the customer's account until they pay.

Steps

  1. Set a credit limit. In the back office, open the customer and set their credit limit.
  2. Attach the customer. Search for the customer on Home before you start the order.
  3. Tap PAY. Ring the items and tap PAY.
  4. Choose Credit. Under PAYMENT MODE, tap Credit.
  5. Complete the sale. Tap Pay or Pay & Print. The sale is saved as due on the customer's account.
  6. If credit is refused. Not Enough Credit Available means the limit would be exceeded. Take another payment method, or split part onto the account.

Collecting what's owed

Sales on account show as Due in Drawer › Recent Transaction. To record a payment against the balance, use the customer's ledger in the back office, where you can also email them a statement.

A walk-in customer can't be charged on account; SeroPOS asks you to select a customer first.

Frequently asked questions

Is Credit the same as paying by credit card?

No. In PAYMENT MODE, Credit means charging the sale to the customer's account. To take a credit card, choose Card and then Credit under CARD TYPE, which sends the payment to your card terminal.

What credit limit should I set?

That's your call. The limit is the most a customer can owe at once. SeroPOS adds up what they already owe plus this sale and refuses the charge if the total would go over. Set it in the customer's record in the back office.
