Set up a card surcharge

SeroPOS can add a surcharge of up to 2% to credit-card payments. Open Drawer › Settings and switch on Card Surcharge, then tap its gear. On the Card Surcharge screen, enter the Surcharge Percentage (%) and tap SAVE. The surcharge applies only when the card type is Credit; cash, debit and other methods aren't surcharged. It's set per location.

Where the surcharge shows

The surcharge is added to the amount sent to the terminal and appears on the receipt. The Daily Sales Report has a Card Surcharge card so you can see how much was collected.

Check the rules first

Card surcharging is regulated in some places, and card networks have their own rules about notice and maximums. Confirm it's allowed where you trade, and tell customers before they pay, for example with a sign at the counter. SeroPOS caps the rate at 2% and never applies it to debit.

Frequently asked questions

Why does the gear say to enable the feature first?

Rows with a gear open their settings only after the switch is on. Turn on Card Surcharge in Drawer › Settings first, then tap the gear to set the percentage.

Is the surcharge the same on every till?

It's set per location and synced, so tills in the same location charge the same rate. A second location can have its own rate or none.
