Use the existing Global Payments network connection

For new set-ups we suggest Global Pay Cloud, or Terminal Plus if SeroPOS runs on the T650P. This article covers the existing direct network connection. To connect a Global Payments terminal on your network, open Drawer › Settings, switch on Global Payments and tap its gear to open Global Pay Settings. Enter the terminal's IP Address, Port and ECR ID, then save. From then on, when you choose Debit or Credit at payment, the amount goes straight to the terminal and the sale is recorded when the card is approved.

Steps

  1. Get the terminal details. Connect the terminal to the same network as the till. Find its IP address, the port it listens on for the POS, and its ECR ID in the terminal's settings or from your Global Payments setup.
  2. Switch on Global Payments. Open the drawer, tap Settings and turn on the Global Payments switch.
  3. Open Global Pay Settings. Tap the gear next to Global Payments. The screen reads Connect your Global Payments terminal over the network.
  4. Enter the connection. Fill in IP Address, Port and ECR ID. All three are required.
  5. Save. Tap SAVE and confirm. The details apply to this device only; other tills keep their own.
  6. Take a test sale. Ring up a small sale, choose Debit or Credit at payment and check the amount appears on the terminal. The Processing Payment screen closes by itself when the card is approved.

Batches and the terminal menu

Once Global Payments is on, a card icon appears in the app bar. It opens the terminal menu with card history, the last card receipt, a batch summary and Close Batch & Print Day-End Report. Close Batch is also on the Settings page next to the Global Payments switch.

Good to know

The terminal and the till must be on the same local network. Give the terminal a fixed IP address so it does not move after a restart. If you run SeroPOS on the T650P terminal itself, turn on Terminal Plus instead, and if you would rather not deal with IP addresses at all, Global Pay Cloud connects the terminal through the cloud.

Frequently asked questions

Where do I find the ECR ID?

The ECR ID identifies the POS to the terminal and is set in the terminal's integration settings or given to you with your Global Payments setup. Use the value your terminal is configured with; if you are unsure, ask Global Payments or our support team.

Card sales are not reaching the terminal.

Check the terminal is on and on the same network, and that the IP address in Global Pay Settings still matches the terminal. If the terminal seems stuck, open the card icon in the app bar and use Restart Terminal App.

Can each till use its own Global Payments terminal?

Yes. Use Admin › Tools › Card Terminal for This Till to save a terminal IP, port and ECR ID for that till only, so each till charges on the terminal beside it.
