Help · Card terminals

Give each till its own card terminal

When a store has more than one till, each till should charge the card terminal standing next to it. Open Drawer › Admin › Tools › Card Terminal for This Till, give the till a name such as Front Till or Bar, and enter that till's own terminal details for your processor. Tap Save for this till. Leave a processor blank, or tap Use shared, to keep the store's shared settings.

Point each till at the card terminal beside it.

Steps

  1. Open the screen. On the till you are setting up, open the drawer, tap Admin, go to Tools and tap Card Terminal for This Till.
  2. Name the till. Under Name for this till, enter something staff recognise, such as Front Till, Bar or Drive-Thru.
  3. Enter this till's terminal. Fill in only the processor you use: Terminal IP address, Port and ECR ID for a networked Global Payments terminal, the device reference for Global Pay Cloud, the Terminal ID for Moneris or the Device name / ID for Gravity.
  4. Save for this till. Tap Save for this till. These details are stored on this device only.
  5. Repeat on every till. Do the same on each other till, entering the terminal that stands next to it.
  6. Go back to shared. To make a till use the store's shared settings again, open the screen and tap Use shared.

Why this matters

Without a per-till setting, every till would send card sales to the same terminal, and a customer at the bar could be asked to tap a card at the front counter. Card Terminal for This Till keeps your shared business settings in one place and lets each till override only what is different: its own terminal.

This is most useful with Server / Client Mode, where several tills share one database but each has its own card machine.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need this with only one till?

No. Set it only if the store has more than one till. With a single till, the details in the processor's own settings screen are all you need.

Does this replace the processor settings?

No. Switch on the processor and enter its main settings first. Card Terminal for This Till then overrides only the terminal address or ID on this device. Anything you leave blank keeps using the shared store settings.
