Start a dine-in order in SeroPOS

To seat a table and start their order, tap Dine-in on the Home screen. Table Selection opens with your floor plan (or a grid of tables if you haven't drawn one). Free tables are green, occupied ones red and tables waiting on payment amber. Tap a free table to open the POS for that table, add items, then HOLD to send the order to the kitchen.

How to Start a Dine-In Order at a Table in SeroPOS0:49 · narrated, with captions
SeroPOS appLive
Live table status on the floor plan: tap a free table to start an order, an occupied one to open it.

Steps

  1. Attach a customer (optional). Search for the customer in Search or Add Customer if you want the order on their name. Otherwise it goes to Walk-In Customer.
  2. Tap Dine-in. Tap the Dine-in button under Service Mode.
  3. Pick a free table. On Table Selection, tap a green Available table. Each table shows its seats and waiter.
  4. Add the items. The POS opens for that table. Tap products to add them to the cart.
  5. Hold to send to the kitchen. Tap HOLD in the cart. The order is saved on the table and the kitchen ticket prints.
  6. Add more later. Tap the table again on Table Selection to load its order. New items print on a fresh ticket with only what was added.
  7. Take payment. When the table is ready to pay, open its order and tap PAY.

Table colours and buttons

Table Selection shows Available (green), Occupied (red) and Processing (amber). A table turns amber when its bill has been printed. Refresh Status reloads the colours from the server, and Design Floor Plan opens the designer if your plan includes it. To free a table that shows the wrong status, long-press it and choose Change Table Status.

Limits

Dine-in isn't shown in Retail Mode. Tables are set up in the back office or drawn in the Floor Plan Designer, which is part of Pro. SeroPOS tracks the order per table, not per seat.

Frequently asked questions

Why don't I see a Dine-in button?

Dine-in only appears if your business has a Dine-in type of service, and not in Retail Mode. Add the service in Admin › Types of Service, make sure Retail Mode is off in Drawer › Settings, then return to Home.

Can two servers add to the same table?

Yes. Anyone who opens the table from Table Selection loads its current order and can add items. With Multiple User on, the order keeps the waiter it was started under. On a server and client setup, all tills share the same tables.
