Steps
- Create the product once. In Admin › Products, add a product whose name begins with Miscellaneous, for example Miscellaneous Food, with the right category and tax.
- Tap it on the POS. During a sale, tap the Miscellaneous product.
- Enter the price. In Custom Product Price, type the amount in Product Price.
- Tap Set Price. Tap Set Price. The item is added to the cart at that price.
- Carry on with the sale. Add more items or take payment as usual.
Tips
Make one Miscellaneous product for each tax treatment you need, for example Miscellaneous Taxable and Miscellaneous Food, so the right tax is charged. Because each one sells under its own name, the Daily Sales Report shows how much went through open-price items.
The price can't be negative. For a refund, use the Return toggle on the line instead.
Frequently asked questions
Can I change the price of a normal product during a sale?
Yes, without a Miscellaneous product. Tap the cart line to open Edit Item and change the price there: Unit Price on a phone, New Price in QSR Mode. In QSR you can also tap the line's amount to override it. Price changes may need manager approval, depending on the role.
Why didn't the price box open?
The box opens only for products whose name starts with the word Miscellaneous. Check the spelling in Admin › Products, then open the drawer and tap Sync DataBase so the till picks up the change. Any other product sells at its set price.
