Steps
- Open the form. In Admin › Products tap + Add Product, or tap an existing product to edit it.
- Enter the basics. Type the Product name. Leave SKU empty to auto-generate one, or enter your own code. Optional stock fields include Lead time (days), Alert quantity, Weight and Reorder quantity.
- Choose category, unit and tax. Pick the Category *, the Unit * and the Tax rate *. Turn on Price includes tax if the price you enter already contains tax; leave it off to add tax at checkout.
- Pick the product type. Choose Single for one fixed price, or With variations to sell the item in several variants. The type can only be chosen when you create the product.
- Set the price. For a Single product enter the cost and selling price. For With variations pick the Variation group * and fill in the Variation prices table, with a price for every value.
- Attach add-ons. Under Modifier groups, tick the groups the till should offer with this item, such as Toppings. New group lets you create one without leaving the form.
- Add a photo. Tap Product image and choose a JPG or PNG. On a phone you can use the Camera or the Gallery.
- Save. Tap Create Product, or Save Changes when editing. Cancel discards your changes.
Single or with variations
Use With variations when the same item comes in sizes or options that change the price, such as a Small, Medium and Large coffee. The option names come from Variation Groups; the prices are set here, on each product. Once a product is saved as variable you can change each variation's price, but not switch it back to Single.
Tips
A clear, well-lit square photo looks best on the POS grid; photos are compressed automatically. Turn on Track IMEI / Serial number only for items you track by serial, such as phones. For many products at once, the Excel import in Admin › Tools is faster.
Frequently asked questions
Why can't I save a new product?
A product needs a Category, a Unit and a Tax rate, and the form shows an orange warning if any of these don't exist yet. Add them in Admin, then come back. For a variable product, every variation needs a price.
Can I change a product from Single to With variations?
No. The type is chosen when the product is created. To sell an existing item in sizes, create a new product With variations and delete or hide the old one.
How do I add toppings to a product?
Create a Modifier Group such as Toppings with a price for each option, then open the product and tick that group under Modifier groups.
