Set up modifier groups

A modifier group is a list of add-ons, such as Toppings with Extra cheese at $1.50 and Bacon at $2.00. Create it in Admin › Modifier Groups: type the Group name, then each Option with its Price, and save. Then open each product that should offer it and tick the group under Modifier groups. When staff sell that item, the till asks which add-ons the customer wants.

Modifier groups and their priced options.

Steps

  1. Open Modifier Groups. Open the drawer, tap Admin, and under Catalog tap Modifier Groups.
  2. Add a group. Tap + Add Group and type the Group name, such as Toppings.
  3. Add the options. Type each Option (for example Extra cheese) and its Price (for example 1.50). Tap Add option for another row.
  4. Save. Tap Add (or Save when editing). The list shows the group's options, prices and how many products use it.
  5. Attach it to products. Open each product in Admin › Products and tick the group under Modifier groups. Save the product.
  6. Sell it. When staff add the product, Choose modifiers opens with your options. They tick the add-ons, or Skip.

Good to know

Creating a group doesn't attach it to anything; you choose which products offer it. You can also create a group from inside the product form with New group. An option that has already been sold can't be removed from the group, which keeps past sales correct.

  • Use a price of 0 for free choices, such as No onions.
  • In QSR Mode the modifier popup appears only if Modifier Popup is on in QSR Settings.
  • On the kiosk, add-ons show as Required or Free to the customer.

Frequently asked questions

How do I add free options like no onions?

Add them as options with a Price of 0 in the modifier group. They print on the ticket like any other add-on but don't change the price.

Why doesn't the modifier list appear when I sell the item?

The group isn't attached to that product, or in QSR Mode the Modifier Popup setting is off. Tick the group on the product, and check QSR Settings.
