Steps
- Connect a card terminal. The kiosk takes Debit and Credit only, with no cash option, so set up your card terminal on this device first in Settings.
- Check the menu. Make sure products have clear names, prices and photos, and that sizes and add-ons are set up as variation and modifier groups. The kiosk shows the same catalogue as the till.
- Switch on Kiosk Mode. Open Drawer › Settings and turn on Kiosk Mode. In Enable Kiosk Mode, enter an Admin or Manager Login ID and Password.
- Check the welcome screen. The device goes full screen and shows Welcome, Order & pay right here and Touch anywhere to start.
- How customers order. Customers pick a category, tap an item and choose options: SELECT YOUR VARIATION, then any add-ons marked Required or Free. Add to My Order puts it in the order.
- How customers pay. Review & Pay opens the Order Summary, where customers can Edit or Remove lines. Under HOW WOULD YOU LIKE TO PAY? they pick Debit or Credit, tap Pay Now and tap or insert the card on the terminal.
- Receipt and reset. When the payment is approved, the receipt prints and the kiosk returns to the welcome screen. If a customer walks away, Are you still there? appears and the order is cleared for the next guest.
Limits
Kiosk Mode runs on a tablet or a Windows or Mac computer, full screen, and isn't available on phones. A device can't be a kiosk and a KDS at the same time, and Kiosk Mode is hidden in Retail Mode. While ordering, My Order shows a subtotal with the note Taxes calculated at checkout.
Setting up a good kiosk
Put the kiosk where queues form and keep the terminal within reach of the screen. Short category names and good photos speed up ordering. Check every item with sizes or add-ons on the kiosk yourself before opening, so customers see the same choices staff would offer.
Frequently asked questions
Can customers pay cash at the kiosk?
No. The kiosk offers Debit and Credit only, paid on the card terminal connected to that device. Customers who want to pay cash can order at the counter.
Do I need the Pro plan for a kiosk?
No. Kiosk Mode is part of the Standard plan ($30/mo) and of Pro. Both include a 14-day free trial with no card needed.
How do I get back to the normal till?
Double-tap the logo on the menu screen, or the lock icon on the cart, then enter an Admin or Manager Login ID and Password in Exit Kiosk Mode.
