See service staff orders in SeroPOS

The Orders screen is the server's view of their own orders. Each server sees the orders assigned to them, can mark a whole order or a single line as served, and can print a line order. Open Orders in the back office sidebar (/modules/orders). Turn on Service staff in Business Settings › Modules first, and assign a server on each sale.

Steps

  1. Turn on service staff. If Orders isn't in the sidebar, tick Service staff under Settings › Setting › Modules and click Update Settings.
  2. Open Orders. Click Orders in the back office sidebar. Servers see All your orders; admins can choose a server from Select service staff.
  3. Load new orders. Click Refresh to bring in orders placed since the page loaded.
  4. Check the order. Each order shows when it was placed, its status, the customer, table and location. Cooked orders are ready to take out.
  5. Mark an order as served. Click Mark as served once the whole order is at the table.
  6. Work line by line. Switch to Line Orders to see single items. Mark each line as served as it goes out, which helps when courses leave the kitchen at different times.
  7. Print a line order. Print a line order to hand a single item's ticket to the bar or kitchen.

Assigning servers to orders

Orders only show here when a server is chosen on the sale. To make that compulsory, tick Is service staff required on the POS tab of Business Settings. Tick Enable service staff in product line to assign a different server to each item.

The service staff report shows sales by server for tips and performance reviews.

Frequently asked questions

Why doesn't a server see their orders?

The order must have that server chosen as the service staff. Check the sale, and tick Is service staff required on the POS tab so it can't be skipped. The server's role also needs permission to view the Orders screen.

What is a line order?

A line order is a single item on an order, rather than the whole order. Servers can mark each line as served on its own, and print it, which suits courses or drinks that go out at different times.
