Steps
- Open the Business Settings page. In the back office sidebar, open Settings and click Setting. This is the Business Settings page at /business/settings, with its tabs down the left and a search box at the top.
- Click the POS tab. POS is the seventh tab in the list on the left. Keyboard shortcuts are at the top; scroll down to POS settings.
- Hide checkout features you don't use. Tick Disable Multiple Pay, Disable Draft, Disable Express Checkout or Disable Hold Sale to remove those buttons from the POS.
- Control discounts and tax. Tick Disable Discount or Disable order tax to stop staff changing them on a sale. Tick Subtotal Editable to let staff edit the subtotal on each product line.
- Tidy the product search. Tick Don't show product suggestion or Don't show recent transactions to declutter the screen, or Show pricing on product suggestion tooltip to show prices in the suggestions.
- Set restaurant options. Tick Enable service staff in product line to assign a different server to each item, and Is service staff required to make choosing one compulsory.
- Set the remaining options. Choose Disable credit sale button, Enable transaction date on POS screen, Enable Weighing Scale, Show invoice scheme, Show invoice layout dropdown and Print invoice on suspend as you need.
- Click Update Settings. Click Update Settings at the bottom of the page. Every tab on this page saves together, so finish any other tab you changed before you click.
Settings that affect the POS but live elsewhere
Some till behaviour is set on other screens. Cash rounding, the minimum selling price and overselling are on the Sale tab. Featured products and which payment methods each store accepts are on each business location. Receipt printing and auto-print are in each location's Settings, and kitchen ticket routing is under Settings › KOT.
The weighing scale barcode format sits on this same POS tab, below the toggles, once Enable Weighing Scale is ticked.
Limits
These options apply to every user and every location in the business. To limit a single person, for example to stop one cashier giving discounts, use roles and permissions under User Management instead.
Frequently asked questions
How do I stop cashiers giving discounts?
To remove the discount for everyone, tick Disable Discount on the POS tab and click Update Settings. To stop only some staff, leave it unticked and remove the discount permission from their role under User Management › Roles. That way managers can still discount.
What is Print invoice on suspend?
When ticked, putting a sale on hold prints its invoice straight away. Restaurants use it to print a bill or order slip for a table that is still open. Leave it off if held sales should stay unprinted until payment.
Do these settings change the SeroPOS app?
These toggles belong to the back office's POS settings. The SeroPOS app has its own settings for QSR mode, printing and payments on each device. Check the app's Settings screen for options that only affect one till.
