Steps
- Open the Business Settings page. In the back office sidebar, open Settings and click Setting. This is the Business Settings page at /business/settings, with its tabs down the left and a search box at the top.
- Click the POS tab. The shortcuts table, Add keyboard shortcuts, is at the top of the POS tab.
- Find the operation. The Operations column lists Express Checkout, Pay & Checkout, Draft, Cancel, Go to product quantity, Weighing Scale, Edit Discount, Edit Order Tax, Add Payment Row, Finalize Payment and Add new product.
- Type the new combination. In the Keyboard Shortcut column, type the key names separated by +, for example shift+e or ctrl+shift+d. The help text above the table lists the key names you can use.
- Clear a shortcut you don't want. Delete the text in a box to turn that shortcut off, so the key no longer triggers it.
- Click Update Settings. Click Update Settings at the bottom of the page. Every tab on this page saves together, so finish any other tab you changed before you click.
- Test it on the POS. Open the POS screen in the browser, reload it and press the new combination to check it does what you expect.
Choosing combinations
Pick combinations that don't clash with the browser's own shortcuts, such as ctrl+p for print or ctrl+t for a new tab. Combining shift or alt with a letter is usually safe.
These shortcuts are for the browser-based POS and sales screens of the back office. The SeroPOS app on a tablet or Windows till has its own layout and doesn't read this table.
Frequently asked questions
What format do shortcuts use?
Write the names of the keys separated by a plus sign, such as shift+e, ctrl+shift+s or f2. The tab shows an example and the full list of available key names above the table, so copy the spelling from there.
Can I turn a shortcut off?
Yes. Clear the box for that operation and click Update Settings. The POS then ignores that key combination. You can add it back at any time.
