Steps
- Turn on the kitchen module. If Kitchen isn't in the sidebar, tick Kitchen (For restaurants) under Settings › Setting › Modules and click Update Settings.
- Sign in on the kitchen screen. On a tablet, PC or TV in the kitchen, open the back office in a browser and sign in with a kitchen user.
- Open Kitchen. Click Kitchen in the sidebar. All orders shows each open order with when it was placed, its status, the customer, table and location.
- Load new orders. Click Refresh to pull in orders placed since the page loaded.
- Check the order details. Open an order's details to see each item and quantity.
- Mark as cooked. Click Mark as cooked when the order is ready to go out. Servers then see it as cooked on their Orders screen.
Kitchen screen or kitchen display in the app
The back office Kitchen screen runs in any browser, which makes it handy on a spare laptop or a TV with a small PC. The SeroPOS app also has a KDS mode for a tablet in the kitchen, with its own clean-up options.
Many kitchens still use printed kitchen tickets alongside a screen. Ticket routing to each printer is set under Settings › KOT.
Give the kitchen its own user
Create a user with a role that can only see the kitchen screen. That way the screen left signed in on the pass can't be used to look at sales or reports.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need special hardware for the kitchen screen?
No. The Kitchen screen runs in a web browser, so any tablet, laptop or PC with a screen and internet connection works. Mount it where the cooks can see it and leave it signed in during service.
What happens when I click Mark as cooked?
The order's status changes to cooked and it moves off the list of orders still to make. Service staff see the change on their Orders screen, so they know it's ready to take to the table.
