Steps
- Find the original. Open Products › List Products and find the product closest to the new one.
- Duplicate it. Click Actions and choose Duplicate Product. An Add Product form opens with its details copied.
- Rename it. Change the Product Name so the two are easy to tell apart.
- Change the SKU. Clear the SKU to auto generate a new one, or type the new item's code. SKUs must be unique.
- Adjust prices and details. Update prices, image, description and anything else that differs, such as variations.
- Save. Click Save, or Save & Add Opening Stock to enter its starting stock.
What isn't copied
Duplicating copies the product's setup, not its history. The new product starts with no stock, no sales and no purchases. Add its opening stock or record a purchase to give it stock.
Frequently asked questions
Does duplicating copy stock?
No. The copy starts with zero stock at every location. Use Save & Add Opening Stock, or add it later from Actions › Add or edit opening stock.
Can I duplicate a sale as well as a product?
Yes, but from a different screen. Sales have their own Duplicate Sell action in Sell › All Sales, which copies the lines into a new invoice.
