Steps
- Find the product. Open Products › List Products and search for the product.
- Open stock history. Click Actions and choose Product stock history.
- Choose the location. Pick the Business Location. For a variable product, also pick the variation under Variations.
- Read the summary. Quantities In lists Total Purchase, Opening Stock, Total Sell Return and Stock Transfers in. Quantities Out lists Total Sold, Total Stock Adjustment, Total Purchase Return and transfers out. Totals gives Current stock.
- Read the movement lines. Each line shows the Type, Quantity change, New Quantity, Date and Reference No, so you can trace when and why stock moved.
- Open the source. Use the reference number to find the sale, purchase or transfer in its own list if you need more detail.
Using it to check a count
When a shelf count doesn't match, start here. Look for a sale with a large quantity, a transfer that was never received, or an adjustment nobody remembers. If the history itself is right but the quantity on hand is not, see Fix a stock mismatch.
Frequently asked questions
How do I see why a product's stock changed?
Open Actions › Product stock history on the product and pick the location. Every sale, purchase, return, transfer and adjustment is listed with its date, reference and the quantity after it, so you can find the movement you're looking for.
Does stock history show all locations at once?
No, it shows one location at a time, which keeps the running quantity correct. Switch the Business Location to check another store, or use the Stock Report for all locations side by side.
