Steps
- Open Variations. In the sidebar, open Products and click Variations. All variations lists your templates and their values.
- Add a template. Click Add, enter the Variation Name, such as Size or Colour, and type each value under Add variation values. Click Save.
- Create the product. Open Products › Add Product, fill in the main details and set Product Type to Variable.
- Pick the template. Under Add Variation, choose your template. Its values fill the table; remove any this product doesn't use or add extras.
- Price each value. For each value, leave SKU blank to auto generate a sub-SKU, then enter the Default Purchase Price, x Margin(%) and Default Selling Price. Use Apply all to copy a value down the column.
- Add images and save. Upload Variation Images if each option looks different, then click Save.
Variations or modifiers
Use variations when each option is a different stock item with its own price and SKU, such as shirt sizes or bottle sizes. Use modifiers for add-ons chosen at the till, such as extra cheese or oat milk, which don't need their own stock line.
In the SeroPOS app
When a variable product is tapped on the till, the app asks which option to sell. Stock, labels and reports are kept per variation.
Frequently asked questions
Can a product have two variations, like size and colour?
A variable product holds one set of variation values. For size and colour, create values that combine them, such as Small Red and Small Blue, or set up a separate product per colour with sizes as its variations.
If I edit a variation template, do my products change?
The template is a starting point for new products. Products already created keep their own variation values and prices, which you edit on each product.
