Create a combo product

A combo product sells several items together at one price, such as a meal deal or a gift basket. Create it at Products › Add Product with Product Type set to Combo. Search for each item, enter its quantity in the combo, check the total purchase price, set the margin or selling price and save. When a combo sells, stock comes off each item inside it, and the combo's available quantity is worked out from those items.

Steps

  1. Start a new product. Open Products › Add Product and enter the combo's Product Name, Category, Business Locations and tax.
  2. Set the type to Combo. Set Product Type to Combo. The combo section appears below.
  3. Add the items. In the search box, type a product name or SKU and pick each item that goes in the bundle.
  4. Enter quantities. Set the quantity of each item in one combo, for example 1 burger, 1 fries and 1 drink.
  5. Check the cost. The table shows each item's Purchase Price (Excluding Tax) and the Total Amount (Exc. Tax) for the bundle.
  6. Set the price. Enter a x Margin(%) or type the Default Selling Price directly, then click Save.

How stock works

A combo has no stock of its own. Each sale takes the set quantity of every item off stock at that location, and the number of combos you can sell is limited by the item that runs out first. Add stock to the items through purchases or opening stock, not to the combo.

Frequently asked questions

Can I use a variable product in a combo?

Yes. Search picks a specific variation, such as a Large drink, so the combo always uses that size. To offer a choice of sizes, create a combo for each one, or use modifiers on the app.

Does a combo show on reports as one item?

Sales reports list the combo as the product sold. Stock reports show the items going down, because stock is held on the items, not on the combo.
