Map tax rates to WooCommerce in SeroPOS

Match each SeroPOS tax rate to the same tax rate in WooCommerce, so products and orders carry the same tax on both sides. On the WooCommerce dashboard, the Map Tax Rates section lists every POS Tax Rate with an Equivalent Woocommerce Tax Rate dropdown. Pick the match for each, then save. Set your tax rates up in WooCommerce first, and do this before your first product sync.

Steps

  1. Add tax rates in WooCommerce. In WordPress, set up the tax rates you charge under WooCommerce › Settings › Tax, for example GST and PST for your province.
  2. Open the dashboard. In the back office sidebar, click WooCommerce and scroll to Map Tax Rates.
  3. Match each rate. For each POS Tax Rate, choose the Equivalent Woocommerce Tax Rate.
  4. Save. Click Save.
  5. Set the default tax class. On API Settings › Product Sync Settings, check the Default Tax Class used for products (standard by default).
  6. Sync products. Sync products so they carry the mapped tax.

Getting tax right

Match rates of the same percentage, and decide whether prices go to WooCommerce including or excluding tax on the Product Sync Settings tab. Then place a test order on the store and compare its tax with the sale it creates in SeroPOS.

Good to know

Changing a mapping affects products and orders synced after the change. WooCommerce is part of the Pro plan. The WooCommerce item shows in the back office sidebar when your subscription includes it, and each sync action has its own permission.

Frequently asked questions

Why don't I see my WooCommerce tax rates?

SeroPOS reads the rates set up in your WooCommerce store. Add them under WooCommerce › Settings › Tax, then reload the WooCommerce dashboard.

Should prices sync including or excluding tax?

Match how your WooCommerce store is set to enter prices. Choose Including Tax or Excluding Tax under Sync Product Price on the Product Sync Settings tab.

Do I need to map tax before syncing products?

Yes, it's best to. Products sent before the mapping may carry the wrong tax and need syncing again.
