Run and read the Customer Groups Report

The Customer Groups Report totals your sales for each customer group. Go to Reports > Customer Groups Report (/reports/customer-group), choose a Customer Group Name if you want just one, a Business Location and a Date Range. The table lists each Customer Group with its Total Sale for the period.

Steps

  1. Open the report. In the sidebar, open Reports and click Customer Groups Report. It uses the contacts report permission.
  2. Pick a group. Leave Customer Group Name empty for every group, or pick one.
  3. Set location and dates. Choose a Business Location, then click Date Range and pick a preset (Today, Yesterday, Last 7 Days, Last 30 Days, This Month, Last Month, This month last year, This Year, Last Year, Current financial year, Last financial year) or Custom Range.
  4. Read the totals. Each row shows the Customer Group and its Total Sale. Sales to customers with no group are not counted in a group row.
  5. Export. Use the buttons above the table: CSV or Excel downloads the rows you can see, Print opens a print view, Columns hides or shows columns, and PDF saves the table (offered in most back-office languages).

Setting up groups first

Groups come from Contacts > Customer Groups, where each group can also carry a price adjustment or selling price group. Put each customer into a group on their contact record. The report then shows how much each kind of customer, such as wholesale, retail or staff, spent in the period.

Export and print

Every table on this report has the same toolbar: CSV, Excel, Print, Columns and, in most back-office languages, PDF. The exports take the columns that are visible, so hide anything you don't need with Columns first. The totals row at the bottom of the table is included in the export.

Frequently asked questions

Can I see which customers are in a group's total?

This report shows totals only. Use the Supplier & Customer Report filtered by Customer Group Name to see each customer in the group, or the Sell Payment Report, which can also be filtered by customer group.

Is a sale counted if the customer changes group later?

Sales are reported under the customer's current group, so moving a customer to another group moves their past sales in this report too. Keep that in mind when comparing periods.
