Steps
- Open the report. In the sidebar, open Reports and click Sell Payment Report.
- Filter by who and where. Pick a Customer, a Business Location or a Customer Group, or leave them on All.
- Filter by method. Choose a Payment Method such as Cash or Card to total one tender.
- Set the dates. Click Date Range and pick a preset (Today, Yesterday, Last 7 Days, Last 30 Days, This Month, Last Month, This month last year, This Year, Last Year, Current financial year, Last financial year) or Custom Range.
- Read each payment. Reference No, Paid on, Amount, Payment Method and Sell (the invoice it paid). Use Action to view the payment.
- Export. Use the buttons above the table: CSV or Excel downloads the rows you can see, Print opens a print view, Columns hides or shows columns, and PDF saves the table (offered in most back-office languages).
Checking card and cash totals
Filter Payment Method to Card for a day and compare the total with your card terminal batch, or to Cash and compare with the register close. Payments are dated by when they were received, so a payment on an older invoice counts on the day it came in.
Export and print
Every table on this report has the same toolbar: CSV, Excel, Print, Columns and, in most back-office languages, PDF. The exports take the columns that are visible, so hide anything you don't need with Columns first. The totals row at the bottom of the table is included in the export.
Frequently asked questions
Why does this total differ from the day's sales?
Sales count when the invoice is made; payments count when money is received. Credit sales paid later, deposits and part payments move money between days. Use the Daily Sales Report for sales and this report for money received.
Can I see card versus cash for a week?
Yes. Set the date range to the week, then run the report once with Payment Method set to Card and once with Cash, or export the full list and total by the Payment Method column.
