Steps
- Open Import Products. In the sidebar, open Products and click Import Products.
- Download the template. Click Download template file to get the spreadsheet with the columns in order.
- Fill the required columns. Product Name, Unit, Manage Stock, Selling Price Tax Type and Product Type are required on every row, plus Purchase Price (Including Tax) or Purchase Price (Excluding Tax). Leave Selling Price blank to calculate it from the margin.
- Add optional columns. Fill Brand and Category (new ones are created if not found), SKU (blank to auto generate), Barcode Type, Manage Stock, Alert quantity, Applicable Tax, Opening Stock, Product locations, Food Type and more.
- Choose the file. Under File To Import, choose your .xls, .xlsx or .csv file.
- Validate. Click Validate. If there are problems, the page lists every one with its row; fix them in the spreadsheet and Validate again.
- Import. When validation passes, click Submit. Then check a few products in List Products.
Updating products you already have
Tick Update products that already exist to match on SKU and overwrite that product's details and prices. Leave it unticked and an existing SKU is reported as an error. Stock on hand is never changed by an update, so re-uploading a corrected sheet can't double your quantities.
Variable products
For a variable product, fill Variation Name (for example Size) and Variation Values separated by a pipe, such as S|M|L, and give prices and opening stock in the same order.
Frequently asked questions
Can I import products from my old POS?
Yes. Export your products, copy them into the SeroPOS template in the column order shown under Instructions, and upload. Validate first: it checks every row and lists all errors without importing anything, so you can fix the sheet in one pass.
What does Validate do?
It checks the whole file as if importing, but saves nothing. Any problem is listed with its row number. When the list is empty, click Submit to import for real.
Can I import products from the SeroPOS app?
The app's Admin › Tools has Download Excel for the same import template. Fill it in and upload it here in the back office, or follow the app's import help.
