Steps

  1. Add the products first. Make sure every product exists, either added by hand or with Import Products. This screen only adds stock to existing SKUs.
  2. Open the import screen. In the sidebar, open Products and click Import Opening Stock.
  3. Download the template. Click Download template file.
  4. Fill the rows. Enter the SKU (required), the Location name (blank uses your first location), the Quantity and the Unit Cost (Before Tax).
  5. Add lots and expiry. If you track them, fill Lot Number and Expiry Date in your business date format.
  6. Upload. Save the file as .xls, choose it under File To Import and click Submit.
  7. Check stock. Open List Products › Stock Report and confirm the quantities at each location.

When to use it

Use this after a stock count when you're moving to SeroPOS, or when opening a new location. For new products that also need stock, Import Products can carry an Opening Stock column, which saves a second upload.

Frequently asked questions

Can I import stock for several locations?

Yes. Add one row per product per location, with the location's name in the Location column. Leave Location blank and the stock goes to your first business location.

Why does the cost matter on opening stock?

Unit Cost (Before Tax) values your starting stock. It feeds the Stock Report's stock value and the profit on the first sales, so use what you actually paid.
