Steps
- Turn on lot numbers. Open Settings › Setting, click the Purchases tab, tick Enable Lot number and click Update Settings.
- Record a lot on a purchase. In Purchases › Add Purchase, type the supplier's batch code in the Lot Number column of each line.
- Add expiry dates. If product expiry is on, fill the MFG Date or EXP Date on the same line.
- Record lots on opening stock. When adding opening stock, fill Lot Number per row. Add a row for each lot at a location.
- Print lot labels. On Print Labels, enter the Lot Number and tick Print lot number so each item carries its batch.
- Follow each lot. Open Reports › Lot Report to see current stock, units sold, units adjusted and expiry per lot.
When lots matter
Lots are worth it for food, supplements, cosmetics and anything that may be recalled. If a supplier recalls a batch, the Lot Report shows how much is left and the Items Report shows who bought it.
Limits
A purchase can't be deleted once some of its lots have been sold. Selling from a lot can't take more than that lot holds; the sale screen tells you how much is available in it.
