Orders per server

See the orders assigned to each member of service staff over the period.

Line orders too

When service staff are set per item, the report lists the individual lines each person took.

Any date and location

Run it for one shift, one week or a month, at one restaurant or across them.

Based on real roles

Only users whose role is marked as service staff can be picked as the server on an order.

Set on the till

Servers are chosen on the SeroPOS app when an order is taken, or in the back office on a sale.

Matches the Orders screen

The same assignments drive the back office Orders screen, where servers mark orders as served.

Who served what

In a full-service room, the order belongs to a server as much as to a table. The service staff report lists the orders and line orders taken by each member of service staff for the location and date range you pick. It is the view to open when you want to know how many tables a new server handled on their first Saturday, or whether one person is carrying the patio every night.

It sits under Reports in the web back office and appears when the Service Staff module is switched on in Business Settings under Modules. It is a restaurant report, so it only shows up for businesses using service staff. Users need report access in their role, and location access decides which restaurants they can see, so a floor manager can be limited to their own location.

How servers get attached to orders

First, a role needs to be marked as service staff. Under User Management, then Roles, the user type can be set to Service staff, and anyone with that role can be chosen as a server. On the SeroPOS till, with Multiple User turned on, the Select Waiter screen lists staff with their open-order counts, and the one tapped becomes the order's waiter.

In the back office, the POS settings include Enable service staff in product line, which lets each item carry its own server, and Is service staff required, which stops a sale going through without one. Those per-line assignments are what the line orders part of the report counts. Turn both on if you split work by item.

  • Roles: set the user type to Service staff
  • Till: turn on Multiple User to pick a waiter per order
  • POS settings: Enable service staff in product line
  • POS settings: Is service staff required

Orders and line orders

An order is the whole bill. A line order is a single item on it. When one server takes the table and another runs drinks from the bar, per-line assignment lets each person's work show up separately. The report keeps both views, so you can see the number of bills each person owned and the number of items they handled.

The back office Orders screen uses the same data during service. Servers see their own orders and line orders there, mark them as served, and can print a line order. The report is the after-the-fact record of the same work. Managers can use the Orders screen during service and the report afterwards to review the shift.

Using it for scheduling and training

Read the report across a few weeks rather than one night. If the same two servers always have far more orders than everyone else, sections may be uneven, or newer staff may not be getting tables. If someone's orders drop sharply on certain shifts, that is worth a conversation. Look at weeks, not nights.

For sales value per person rather than order counts, the sales representative report shows each user's total sales and returns. The table report shows sales by table, which helps separate a strong section from a strong server. Used together, the three reports give a fair picture of each server's shift without anyone having to keep tallies on paper during service.

Frequently asked questions

How do I see sales by server in a restaurant?

Turn on the Service Staff module in Business Settings, mark server roles as Service staff, and make sure servers are picked on each order. Then open Reports, Service Staff Report for the date and location. For sales totals by user, also look at the sales representative report.

Why isn't a server showing in the report?

Check that their role's user type is set to Service staff under Roles, and that they were actually picked on orders. On the till, Multiple User needs to be on for the Select Waiter screen to appear. If orders are taken without choosing a server, they have no one to count against.

Can I force staff to pick a server on every sale?

Yes. In Business Settings on the POS tab, turn on Is service staff required. A sale then cannot be completed without a server chosen. Pair it with Enable service staff in product line if you want servers set per item.

What is a line order?

A line order is one item on a bill, assigned to a member of service staff. With Enable service staff in product line turned on, different items on the same order can belong to different servers. The report lists line orders per person alongside whole orders.

Is this the same as the Orders screen?

They use the same assignments. The Orders screen in the back office is for live service, where servers see their orders and mark them as served. The service staff report looks back over a date range to show how many orders and line orders each person handled.
